Can you believe it? It’s already December. The year seems to have flown by. However, it’s not quite over yet, and there are still several dope pairs dropping this month. Although there’s always a good amount of heat around Christmastime, I was able to narrow it down to a personal top five, and yes, it’s in order. Read on and see what my picks for best kicks of December are!
5. Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Volt/Volt/Black” (December 24th)
Although I’m not huge on the many crazy Foamposite colors that have been dropping lately, the all-volt Foamposite Pro is right up my alley. I’ve always been a fan of the volt colorway, and feel that with a solid color, crazy loud colors on Foams can work. The black speckled carbon fiber is a nice touch as well.
4. Adidas Originals Stan Smith “Big Polka Dot Pack” Black/White (December 13th)
I’m a self-professed Pharrell stan, and I’ve really been enjoying the collabs he’s been dropping with Adidas. Although some might not be a fan of the whimsical giant polka dots adorning the shoes, they slightly remind me of the all-over hearts pattern on the Comme des Garcons x Converse Pro Editions, and can add a nice touch to a simple outfit.
3. Air Jordan XI “Legend Blue” (December 20th)
Although these are an easy #1 for a lot of people, they come in at #3 for me. I love how slick the white patent leather looks, and how it just works with the icy blue accented sole and Jumpman, but I’m not a huge fan of the XI’s. Also I’d be lying if I said the craze that surrounds the holiday XI release every year isn’t a little off-putting.
2. Air Jordan I High “Fragment” (December 27th)
The folks over at Fragment Design absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. Combining elements of two classic I’s (the Black Toe and the Royal), they put their own unique twist on what in my opinion is the best Air Jordan silhouette ever.
1. Air Jordan I “Black/Gum” (December 6th)
Although it might not come with the fanfare of some of the other sneakers on this list, this clean and simple Jordan I is hands-down the best shoe of December in my opinion. Why’s that, you ask? Easy. Perfect for winter with the all-black upper, and who doesn’t love a gum sole? These are kicks that will look great when they’re beat up too. You really can’t go wrong, so don’t sleep on these.
