What We’ve Been Up To Part I

What’s up everyone??

We’re switching up the news pieces a bit from here on out. They’ll be consisting of two parts, what I’ve been up to and what Bobby has been up to as well. We’ve both got a lot popping, so there will be even more dope shit to check out than before! Without any further ado, let’s bring you up to speed on what we’ve been doing lately.

Ross

There’s been a whole bunch of new and exciting things going on since the last time I checked in with everyone! The main focus over here at KicksOneTwo these last few weeks has been social media. Getting Kevin Durant’s Autograph

We’ve been feeling pretty nostalgic here at KicksOneTwo as we gave you a Throw Back Thursday post this week, and now I’m going to reach into my personal vault of sneaker stories and tell you one of my favorites . I was just recently looking through my collection and I happened to come across my Kevin Durant signed “Easter” KD V’s. The story of how I ended up getting them signed is a great one that I think you’ll all enjoy!

For this story, we’ll have to bring it way back to March 29, 2013. My man Titus had invited me to the Timberwolves vs. Thunder game to celebrate his birthday, so of course I was excited to see KD play in person for the first time. Since we were going to the game, we had decided beforehand to try to get his autograph. read more

Striking Out On Releases (And How To Deal With It)

I’m mad.

Well, now that the whole situation has somewhat blown over, I’m not really mad at all. However, for the sake of this article, put yourself in the mind state of myself after striking out on a release.

I’m mad.

As the majority of you know, Supreme dropped it’s 2015 fall/winter collection yesterday. There was something for everyone as items ranged anywhere from baseball jerseys to jackets and lunch boxes to crowbars. I’ve never been a huge Supreme-head, but I was planning on picking up a couple items, (or trying to at least), from this release. The drop was scheduled for 10:00 am CST, so I knew I’d be able to try to grab what I wanted. read more

TBT: Starting Fives

It’s Thursday, and we’re winding back the clock. We’ll have a new Starting Five from Bobby coming very soon, so to make sure you’re ready, we thought we’d give you a handy list (with links, of course) of  all the other Starting Five’s we’ve done to make sure you’re up to speed. They’re listed from oldest to newest…and they’re all vastly different. Enjoy!

1. Ross Dwyer

You know I had to do the first ever Starting Five. Everything from Jordan I’s to Flyknit 4.0’s were on deck for me back then. read more

Corporate Logos on Jerseys

Imagine seeing the Target bulls-eye slapped on the middle of the Minnesota Wild jersey. Now, imagine it on the Timberwolves jersey. Twins jersey. Vikings jersey. You get the point. It’s a frightening image to some. Unfortunately, this frightening image could become reality sooner than we might like.

With the recent news of Adidas winning a contract to being the official provider of jerseys to the NHL, (you can do some damage with $70 million), hockey fans all around America fear that Adidas will convert their favorite team’s jersey to a billboard.  Minnesota native and NHL star Blake Wheeler took to Twitter with his thoughts on the subject (hit the link if you want to see what he had to say… personally I agree with him completely). read more

Flight Club’s Financing Plans

It was the talk of the sneaker world this past weekend, and it’s carried over into this week. Flight Club is offering financing on their kicks? You can now split the ridiculous cost into multiple payments, and you don’t have to cough up all the cash up front?

Yeah, that’s the case. If you head over to the Flight Club website, you’ll see that you can split the payments for your kicks, and have up to a year to pay them off. Need those Yeezy 750 boosts but don’t have three racks sitting around? You can now pay a couple hundred bucks a month for them. read more

Wear Your Kicks

It’s a nice, relaxing Sunday. You’re probably sipping a coffee getting your day started while reading this, or maybe you’re nursing a 32oz Gatorade trying your best to shake off the dreadful hangover that you woke up with after last night’s hijinks.

No matter what you’re doing at the present moment, I’m here with a PSA for you, and it’s a simple one: Wear your kicks, and cop to rock. For the readers that might not be as well-versed in sneaker lingo, what I’m telling you to do in plain English is “wear your shoes” and “buy your shoes with the intention of wearing them.” read more

The Five Best Pieces From The Supreme F/W ’15 Line

If you’ve been online at all this past week, you’ve seen the internet going nuts (word to Paul Wall) over Supreme‘s F/W ’15 offerings. One of their strongest collections in recent memory, the line includes everything from dope overcoats, to a baseball jersey inspired by 1980’s White Sox uniforms to dope trinkets like crowbars and air horns, there’s something for everyone.

Now that I’ve had a few days to absorb the line as a whole, I’ve been able to narrow my favorite pieces down to five, which I’ll present in order as well as spend a little time discussing why I’m so fond of each piece. Let’s get right to it! read more
