The countdown is back. We started off last week with #5….and here’s #4. The #4 sneaker of 2014 is the…
Supreme x Nike Air Force I
Take a classic model that’s always been associated with New York. Take New York’s most prominent and successful streetwear brand Supreme. Take a simple base colorway with loud all-over branding and what do you have? That’s right, you’ve got the Supreme Air Force I. Nike and Supreme have linked up in the past for everything from SB Dunks to Bruins to Foamposites (and even an Air Force I Low), but these Air Force I Highs might be one of their best collaborative efforts to date.
Although the Air Force I High is nowhere near to the hottest shoe on the market right now, letting Supreme get their hands on it brought it right back into the forefront of sneakers. The craze for these was so high that Supreme was unable to release them at their NY store, ironic considering the sneaker is about as New York as it gets. And with the resell value still hovering around $400 at Flight Club, demand is clearly still high.
With the on-trend red pair being a hot item as well as the highly sought after black and white pairs (black is my personal favorite), Supreme proved that loud all-over branding would forever be cool as long as said branding was exclusive enough. These sneakers would be in the top 5 alone just based on the design, but the fact that they took a model that wasn’t exactly in the brightest spotlight this year and put their own personal twist on it makes the shoe all that much more deserving.
Check back later this week for the #3 sneaker in my Top 5 Of 2014 list! And as always, if you’ve got anything to say or any opinions, feel free to leave a comment or hit us on Twitter!
