Round III.
We’re back with the third edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings, and we’ve got a lot to talk about this week.
First things first: YEEZY. Kanye provided highlight after highlight at the VMA’s, from giving an epic speech, to announcing he was running for president, to debuting a crazy new tan color.way of the Yeezy Boost 350. No word on when they’ll drop yet, but apart from the grey pair, these are the best 350 Boosts yet.
Second: yesterday’s Jordan release, the Anthracite IX’s. You’d think sneakerheads would be going crazy over this release as it’s essentially the highly coveted Oregon XI without any Oregon branding. It’s a simple and clean shoe, and the nubuck on the upper is surprisingly nice for a Jordan release. However, there are full size runs sitting at most retailers (hit Finish Line or Eastbay to cop a pair if you’re so inclined).
This seems to be happening an awful lot with recent Jordan GR’s. The Marvin the Martian VII’s (which admittedly were horrible) were first, then the Statue IX’s, and now the Anthracite IX’s. There’s so many releases that it’s impossible to keep up, and for the first time in a while, multiple retros are sitting on shelves for extended periods of time. It’ll be interesting to see if this trend continues.
Thirdly, Under Armour made some waves of their own when they officially debuted the Curry 2. With the great success the first Curry has enjoyed, the 2 is likely to be a hit as well. Will Steph’s star continue to shine bright enough to move massive amounts of shoes? Only time will tell, but if the response to the Curry 2 is anything close to the Curry 1 response, it’ll be a big win for Under Armor.
That wraps it up for this edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings. Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Hit us up on Twitter. We always love a good discussion. And of course be sure to follow us on Instagram for dope new shoe pictures each and every single day.
Till next time.
