You can sum up how 2016 is going in sneakers with one word: Yeezy.
We’re two months and change into the year, and from the first of January to the middle of March, all anyone has wanted to talk about is Yeezys. Hypebeasts thirst over them. High schoolers wonder why they can’t get them, and scour the internet for believable fake pairs. Haters scoff and turn their noses up at them (they’re probably just salty they can’t get a pair). The hype train has been incredibly real, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down any time soon.
However, Adidas dropped a bombshell recently: there will be no Yeezy release in March.
There is no #YEEZYBOOST release this month. Official information on all @KanyeWest and adidas Originals drops will be announced here first.

Although many may be bemoaning this news, it’s actually a good thing. As much as we love Yeezys, we’ve got to admit that the sneaker game in 2016 has become somewhat one-dimensional. The thirst for Kanye’s product has overshadowed a lot of great releases from other brands, and the hype has become borderline unbearable.
There’s a lot of dope stuff out in the world of sneakers, and when you hone in on one thing, a lot of it might go over your head. It’s important to keep your options open, and explore what kind of kicks are out there. We can’t blame you for getting caught up in the Yeezy hype. We’ve gladly gotten caught up ourselves. It happens. The shoes are fire, and the marketing is great. No shame in that.
A month off from Yeezys might just be what everyone really needs. Sneakerheads have an opportunity to look at some different stuff (dope releases like the Flyknit Air Forces have flown somewhat under the weather), and gather their thoughts before the next round of madness begins (we’re assuming some time in April). 2016 might be the year of Yeezy, but a month off is certainly not a bad thing.
What do you think about the announcement that no Yeezys will be released in March? Are you salty, or are you glad there’s an opportunity to take a break from Yeezy Season?
