J Balvin: a name you might not have heard unless you’re a fan of reggaeton music, but a name that holds a lot of weight. He’s released a lot of hit records, made a lot of money, and copped a lot of fly kicks … something he does in spades in Complex’s latest installment of their famous “Sneaker Shopping” series.
He discusses everything from his Columbian upbringing to his friendship with Pharrell (of course he cops a pair of Human Race NMD’s), and states that he gets his Yeezys before even Kanye does thanks to his grade-A sneaker plug.
We’re not sure how true this is as he’s intentionally shifty about his plug’s name and position (first rule of the plug is that you don’t talk about the plug), and we struggle believing he has the sway to pull off getting pairs that early no matter how big he may be in Latin America (no hate, just an honest opinion) but it’s entertaining if nothing else. He makes some interesting statements, cashes out on some dope kicks, and is a refreshing change of pace from all the rappers that have been gracing Sneaker Shopping recently (although we did thoroughly enjoy the Migos episode).
