Anyone who watches the NBA (we’re assuming this is at least 95% of KicksOneTwo readers) knows Craig Sager. The sideline reporter who’s known for his crazy mis-matched outfits. The much-loved personality who announced this previous spring that his leukemia was no longer in remission and that his doctors gave him 3-6 months to live (which he’s thankfully beat).
Many teams around the NBA, from the Celtics to the Warriors paid tribute to him on opening night yesterday, and Bleacher Report has linked up with NikeID to do the same. They came together to create 100 pairs of Air Force I’s (and two matching t-shirts) with crazy, mis-matched patterns and colors inspired by Sager’s colorful suits, with part of the proceeds going to the SagerStrong foundation, which donates all their proceeds towards cancer research and education.
We’ve had a lot of great sneaker-related charity stuff going on the last few weeks, from the self-lacing Nike Mag raffle with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox foundation to Jerry Lorenzo giving shoes to the homeless to Foot Locker and FJ Missions teaming up to provide kicks to the needy … and this is another great opportunity for sneaker heads to give back, and get a fresh pair of kicks while they’re at it.
