After the big announcement this week…it’s become Yeezy Week here on KicksOneTwo. It wasn’t planned, but it makes a lot of sense. Kanye West and Adidas are a match made in heaven. Together, they’ve produced some of the best footwear of the last few years, and every new release throws the sneaker and fashion world into a frenzy. The shoes aren’t just shoes anymore…they’re cultural landmarks. So today, we’re taking these cultural landmarks and ranking them What takes the #1 spot? You’ll just have to read on and find out for yourself.
Editor’s Note: Yeezy Boots are excluded from this article, so the 950’s and the recent Crepe Boots will not be on the list. We love them both, but this list is strictly for the shoes.
7. Yeezy Boost 750 Black
All Yeezy Boosts are dope, but the bottom of the list has to start somewhere, and that’s right here with the black 750’s. They’re fire…but we like the other 750’s much better, and are of the belief that the 350’s are significantly more wearable (what don’t they go well with?), so the black 750’s hold down the bottom of the list.
6. Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black
Notice a theme here? The Pirate Black 350’s are a very wearable (a word you’ll hear a lot in this piece) shoe, and are almost impossible to beat up as they don’t really show any dust or dirt, but 350’s look better in lighter colors, so even though we rock heavy with the Pirate Blacks, they’re the first 350 off the board.
5. Yeezy Boost 750 Grey/Gum
The most recent addition to the Yeezy line, the grey/gum 750’s grey upper works perfectly with the gum outsole for a classy look. If you’re lucky enough to have these, and noble enough to not sell them, you might want to put them on ice until fall…they’ll be especially fire as the seasons change.
4. Yeezy Boost 350 Moonrock
Ah, the Moonrock 350’s. The tonal grey sneaker, only released at accounts that carried Yeezy Season 1 apparel whipped sneakerheads around the world into a frenzy…and why wouldn’t it? A color like this is perfect for any fit you may be wearing, and will age gracefully as well.
3. Yeezy Boost 350 Oxford Tan
Only Kanye could make a tan sneaker popular. Most sneakerheads wouldn’t even consider tan, until these 350’s came around and flipped the game on its head. Look at how many tan shoes are available now! That’s right, these were the originators of the tan or “natural” sneaker craze.
2. Yeezy Boost 750 Grey
You’ve gotta love Kanye and Adidas’s first collaborative effort. Watching sneakerheads go from “I don’t like these, and you won’t catch me wearing Adidas ever” to “I want these” to “I can’t find these anywhere for under two grand” was hilarious…and the first 750 is still the very best 750.
1. Yeezy Boost 350 Turtledove
Could any other Yeezy take the #1 spot? The Turtledove is the high point of the Kanye and Adidas partnership, and when you look back in sneaker history, it’ll be the shoe that defined 2015 and moved casual footwear in a whole new direction. The 350’s have been groundbreaking, and just like with the 750’s…the first was the best.
