LaVarr Ball Needs To Chill

We’ll start today’s article off by acknowledging that we’ve said various parties “need to chill” a lot these past few weeks at KicksOneTwo. We’re cool with that though … there’s been a lot of extra shit going on in the sneaker game recently. From terrible overdone Yeezy customs to bad Team Jordan releases … you just gotta give out a reality check every so often.

The latest person who needs a reality check (as far as we see it) is LaVarr Ball, father of LaMelo, LiAngelo and Lonzo Ball, the three basketball-playing brothers, who’s names you’ve heard left and right if you follow hoops. LaVarr has garnered a reputation for being somewhat forwards and outlandish … but his latest caper might just be his best one yet.

He’s recently proclaimed that if a shoe brand wants to sign any of his sons, he’ll need a $1 BILLION dollar deal … and that his three sons will come as a package when it comes to any footwear endorsements (what, can they not make their own decisions?). He’s also gone on to say that the company does not need to pay up front, as he’d be glad to take $100 million a year for a decade.

Sure. Of course he would. We’d hope that he’s at least partially kidding with this one, but this is a man who will seemingly do anything he can to make as much money as possible off his sons. He’s even said that if no shoe company will meet his demands (once again, are his sons incapable of speaking for themselves?), he’ll “sign” all three of them to his Big Baller brand, which makes poorly-designed hoop t-shirts.

We understand that in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t that big of a deal, but it’s annoying nonetheless. We’ve got social media and “clout” to blame. LaVarr Ball is getting famous off of his sons, and using that chance to shoot his mouth off whenever he feels like it.

Here’s hoping that he fades into the shadows soon … even though we wouldn’t bank on it with how skilled his sons are.

What do you think of LaVarr Ball’s most recent statement? Do you think he’s just trying to drum up some attention, or is he serious about his billion-dollar demand? Hit us up and let us know in the comments or on Twitter, check our Facebook page for daily updates, and, as always, be sure to follow us on Instagram for all the fire sneaker pictures you can handle.
