Ronnie Fieg Is Taking It Back To 1995 With His Gel Diablo

Spring is here … and the gawd Ronnie Fieg is back. He’s been quiet on the sneaker front since he blessed us with the adidas City Sock 2 a few weeks back, but gawds only stay quiet for so long, and Ronnie has spoken loudly with his latest collab, this new Asics Gel Diablo.

There’s a good chance that you have never heard of the Gel Diablo before, but that’s what Ronald does: he pulls old models out of the Asics vault and breathes new life into them. He’ll take a shoe that you’ve never heard of before, and make it relevant for the current day and age.

It’s a perfect shoe for today’s day and age, as the chunky, retro runner inspired look is fully in right now thanks to Kanye West’s Calabasas collection and the current vintage 90’s fascination that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon.

The shoe shows off Ronnie’s usual extra-premium touches, with extra-buttery suede, premium nubuck and “sports mesh” done up in earth tones like light brown, grey, and slate blue. The chunky midsole blends with the earth tones for an interesting look … and we’ve got to say that these might just be one of our favorite Ronnie Asics collabs in a while.

Will the retro runner trend continue all through this summer? If so, these just might be one of the most desired shoes of the next couple months … and for good reason. They’re fire. Just look at them and pay Ronald his respects. No word on a release date just yet, but keep your eyes peeled, as it should be coming soon.
