Are Virgil Abloh’s Nike Collabs Getting Excessive?

Virgil Abloh. The man behind famous street fashion/high end brand OFF-WHITE (it’s kind of a hybrid, but the prices are definitely high-end) is a designer in the truest sense of the word, willing to lay his hands on anything and everything in the pursuit of making something unique and dope.

What’s he been designing recently? Nike sneakers, it seems.

Image after image of Virgil’s designs have hit the internet, from Jordan I’s to Jordan III’s to Air Force I’s and Air Max, there’s a sneaker for every type of sneakerhead. Virgil seems locked in, and it seems that Nike is willing to collaborate with him on an extremely major level.

But we’ve gotta wonder: is it too much? Virgil has always had a lot of hype around his designs, all the way back to his first brand Pyrex (google it if you don’t know what it is) and he’s established a large fanbase, but will that translate to several worthwhile releases, or is flooding the market with OFF-WHITE collabs a bad look? The products are clean and the designs seem to follow Virgil’s signature aesthetic quite well, but we’re not sure if it’s just a little bit too much.

Well, it appears as that we’ll have to find out this summer, as the releases are rumored to drop within the next few months. It’ll be interesting, if nothing else.
