Why Are Kids’ Shoes Getting So Expensive?

There’s a good chance that if you’re here reading a KicksOneTwo article, you don’t mind dropping a good chunk of change on a pair of shoes. As long as you like them enough, and you think you can flex in them (we know you can), then you’ll go ahead and pony up the dough. We get it. We’re the same way.

There’s also a chance that you may have kids. We’re not sure if you do or not (we’d assume that some of our readers do as we have a diverse audience), but we’re sure you buy them shoes too. The one question we’d have to ask: would you buy expensive kids shoes?

There seems to be a recent movement towards more expensive sneakers for the tots (we’re talking little kids here, think toddlers and preschoolers), started off with the Yeezy 350 Boost V2’s and carrying on to the soon-to-release “Arctic Orange” Don C Jordan II’s, which are set to retail at $150 for infant’s sizes, $200 for toddler sizes, and $300 for girls grade school sizes.

This is steep. Very steep. Sure, we understand the desire to buy nice shoes for your kids … but don’t you forget that they are kids after all, and there’s a good chance that they’ll thrash whatever shoes you get for them in only a couple wears. Honestly, there’s no real point in kids’ shoes being that expensive as they’ll either grow out of them or thrash them , so let’s all hope that this “expensive kids’ shoes” thing goes away sooner rather than later.

What do you think of highly priced kids’ shoes?
