The “OG” NMD Colorway Is Returning Again, This Time On The XR1

There’s no denying it, adidas LOVES what they call the “OG” colorway of their NMD’s. We’ve mentioned a few times before that we think it’s a bit rich to say that a shoe that’s only been around for few years has an “OG” colorway, but that’s neither here nor there.

It was recently announced that the “OG” colorway would be making yet another return, this time on the NMD XR1. The classic red, blue, black, and white colorway is back yet again … but at least this time, the shoe is blessed with a premium leather heel tab. We don’t really like the XR1 as much as the R1 (we think that the plastic cage around the midfoot is just a little too busy for such a sleek shoe), but these are one of the cleanest XR1’s we’ve seen yet, up there with the Masterminds … even though they probably won’t approach those in value.

As far as the “OG” colorway goes however, we’ve gotta say that we hope adidas will give it a bit of a rest in the coming months. The NMD’s haven’t been around that long … and constantly putting the hottest colorway out again and again becomes just a tad tiring after a while. The shoe’s new, so they should be innovating more and copying less. After all, innovating is what made them so hot in the first place, isn’t it?
