Thoughts On Random Restocks

We all know the feeling: You see that tweet informing you there’s a restock over on NDC. Maybe you hurry over there and grab a pair that you’ve been wanting since you missed out on the original drop. Maybe you run over there, and there’s nothing left that you wanted. Maybe you don’t have any spare cash and you just have to let it pass by. And maybe, god forbid, you don’t see anything until it’s too late and you miss out on everything completely.

I’ve heard a lot of different opinions on surprise restocks. Some people love them. Some people find them annoying. Some people don’t care one way or another because they don’t have the time to stay up to date. I personally think random restocks are great and here’s why:

Rough on Resellers: Most resellers hate random restocks. If they have kicks that they’ve been trying to move and then those kicks get restocked….well it’s a classic case of supply and demand. More pairs available=less demand for the shoes that the reseller is trying to move=less money for the reseller. And we all love it when resellers get served a big fat piece of humble pie.

Bots? Nope!: Got a great bot? Doesn’t matter. If you don’t know when the shoes are going to be up on NDC, you’ve got the same chances everyone else does. Just goes right back to good old fashioned luck.

Lucking Out: There’s nothing better than when you luck out on a restock. That pure satisfaction of getting a dope sneaker for retail that you thought you’d have to pay crazy prices for is great. It definitely ranks in the upper echelon of satisfying sneaker moments, and is another reason that we all love collecting so much.

So that’s my two cents on random restocks. Love ’em or hate ’em, you’ve gotta live with ’em and you might as well make the best out of it! Who knows? You might even be able to snag yourself something super dope.
