Sneakerheads live for buzzwords. OG. Remastered. Limited. Exclusive. Europe-only. Kanye (lol). Throw enough of those buzzwords around when you’re discussing a shoe, and it’ll automatically become desirable, even if the shoe itself is really not all that great. Thankfully, that’s not at all the case with this weekend’s hottest release.
Every so often a shoe comes around that checks off these buzzwords and is actually as good as it’s hyped up to be … and one of those shoes is dropping this very weekend. Yes, we’re talking about the “Black Metallic” Jordan V’s.
They cross off a few items on the buzzword checklist, which, let’s be honest … we all love. They’re a classic shoe. And, 15 years after their original release, they’re still just as fire as they were the day that they dropped. How can you not love the metallic silver tongue? The icy blue sole? The giant “Nike Air” branding on the heels? The Nike hit on the sole? The … okay, we’ll stop now. You get the point.
It’s a shoe that sneakerheads and fashionistas alike can get behind. It goes great with both pants and shorts, no matter if you prefer the skinny or baggy variety. It works with any sort of fit. It’s easy to match a cap with. It’s the rare basketball shoe that holds cultural significance, but can be easily worked into the most fashion-forwards of wardrobes.
The $220 price tag won’t deter the public from swooping these up en masse, and we just might be in for a crazy release weekend, unlike anything we’ve seen in the past few months. We’ll be aiming to double up … will you?
