It finally happened.
You got lucky either online or on a raffle, and you copped a pair of valuable limited kicks. You’re already daydreaming about how all your friends are going to be jealous when you roll up to the function in your new pair, and you can’t help but imagine stunting on all the GR-wearing suckers at the mall too.
But then you start thinking about something else.
You’ve seen the same shoes on eBay. People are paying $700, $800, even over $1,000. That’s a lot of money for a pair of shoes. You start thinking about what you could do with that money, but you’re still not sure if you’re ready to pull the trigger and sell.
It can be a tough decision. Having a rare pair of kicks that turn heads can be worth more than a chunk of money in some instances, but that chunk of money can really come in handy too. So pull your chair up, it’s time for a life lesson from KicksOneTwo.
When you’re thinking about selling your rare kicks, the first thing you should ask yourself is if you really like them, or if you just bought them because they’re rare. If the answer is the former, you’ve gotta dig a little deeper. If the answer is the latter, go ahead and sell them. You don’t really want them that badly anyway.
So you’ve decided you really like them. That’s great. Now what you need to ask yourself is this: do you like them more than the large sum of money you could potentially get for them? You could use that money for something else….be it something you want, or something that you need (like your rent).
That’s really the big question that you have to answer. If you need the money for something else, sell the shoes. As much as we all love kicks, they’re not more important than bills. However, if you’re in a position where you’ve got everything covered, keep them.
It all boils down to being responsible. Look at the pros and cons of keeping and selling the shoes…and trust your gut. Whatever you think is the right move probably is.
