There’s nothing sneaker heads, hypebeasts, and collectors all over the world love more than a good collab. When two brands come together to create a dope product everyone gets excited…even more so when it’s two of the hottest brands out, like Adidas and Bape.
If you haven’t already heard the rumors swirling around on the web, Adidas and Bape are supposedly linking up for a collaborative NMD Runner (arguably the hottest shoe out right now), and a line of co-branded apparel. It’s mostly speculation at this point, but SneakerBarDetroit has gotten their hands on what they claim are “leaked images” of the shoe
As you can see from the grainy image above, the shoe features Bape’s signature camo print all over the Primeknit upper, as well as tan and brown hits on the collar and midsole. If these shoes are in fact dropping, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were released in extremely limited quantities and became the most sought-after NMD yet.
What do we think of the shoe? Well, it’s safe, yet dope. If you do a sneaker collab with Bape, you already know what you’re going to get. You’re going to get camo print on the upper, either on one small part like the toe box or all over. They’re not re-inventing the wheel here, but Bape camo is a classic, and it should look great on the NMD R1’s Primeknit upper.
Also, we can’t help but hope that co-branded apparel will be released. Imagine an Adidas x Bape track jacket or Tiro pants. You can’t tell us that that’s not some sportswear you’d love to have in your wardrobe. We’re trying not to get our hopes up, but it’s difficult.
So keep your ear to the streets (and the interwebs) to see if these NMD’s will actually drop. It’ll certainly be a crazy day for the sneaker game in 2016 if they do.
What do you think of the rumored Bape x Adidas NMD collab? Do you think it’s dope or trash? Do you think it’s actually going to drop, or it’s just a story perpetrated by the Internet?
