Gosha Rubchinskiy Has Done It Again

When it comes to designers nowadays, there’s nobody hotter than Gosha Rubchinskiy. His signature graphics, like his “Flag” tee and his “CNOPT” sweater are recognizable from a mile away, and with cosigns from style icons like the A$AP Mob, Gosha’s not going to be going anywhere any time soon.

Yesterday, the premier of his S/S ’17 line hit the web, and as you might have expected, everyone went nuts. His signature aesthetic was clear in his pieces, and it looked to be another successful season’s work. But that wasn’t all.

Imagine everyone’s shock when they saw Gosha was collaborating with Fila and Kappa, two Italian sportswear giants that reached the peak of their popularity in the 90’s (if you never had a pair of Grant Hills or Fila F-13’s, we feel sorry for you). Two brands that haven’t been cool in years (stateside at least) were suddenly cool again.

Gosha’s love for 90’s sportswear is well-known, and he brought back classic Fila and Kappa pieces with just a little twist (images of the collection are few and far between unfortunately, but there’s a few decent but small pictures here and here, thanks to the good folks at Four Pins). They’re still mostly true to the original, but his signature touches take the classic garments to the next level and make them perfectly suitable for the current era.

What do we think of the collection? We love it. It’s a perfect balance of old and new, and when a classic brand comes together with one of the hottest designers of the moment and everything goes according to plan, that’s just what should happen. You already know we’ll be trying to cop when S/S ’17 becomes available.

What do you think of the collection? Do you like the blend of old and new, or does it not do anything for you? Did you rock any Fila or Kappa gear back in the 90’s?
