Russell Westbrook’s Jordan 0.2: Not That Bad

Here at KicksOneTwo, we’re quick to clown on a lot of Jordan Brand’s signature sneakers. They seem completely unable to capture the magic of the retros, and put out forgettable performance shoes year after year. They work great on the court … but they don’t work great in the streets, so they can’t cross over and become true classics.

So when we heard that Russell Westbrook’s first signature Jordan sneaker would be a casual shoe, we were very interested. Russell is one of the better-dressed NBA players, so we wanted to see if Jordan Brand could do him justice with his first release. Long story short, they didn’t.

The Westbrook 0 looked like a knockoff Balenciaga, and although the vision was there … it wasn’t properly executed. So when Russell Westbrook’s second shoe, the Westbrook 0.2 was announced, we weren’t very excited. Thankfully … we were wrong.

Jordan Brand seemed to get the hang of the high-fashion sneaker much better on their second go-around, as the super high-top and premium materials made the shoe look like something you’d see from a high fashion house. We’re actually big fans of the Westbrook 0.2, and the new “bleached denim” colorway is a winner in our book.

With the different shades of denim and rough-hewn construction, it brings to mind a Visvim jacket (which is a thunderous compliment), and the stately silhouette of the sneaker clashes wonderfully with the hand-constructed look. Solid W for Jordan Brand … if the rest of the Westbrook 0.2’s wind up being as dope as these, we might have to give them a little more love.
