How Real Will The Thirst For The “Royal” Jordan I’s Be?

The release of the Jordan I “Royal” is drawing closer and closer. April 1st is right around the corner, and the general sneaker populace is quite excited.

Understandable. The “Royal” is arguably the best Jordan I colorway ever (we personally prefer the Breds, but we can certainly see why someone might like the Royals a little bit more), and if the Bred release is any indication, the thirst for these will be very real as well.

Earlier this week, Sneaker News posed an interesting question: would the Royals generate more hype than the Breds? Unfortunately, they didn’t really answer the question at all in the accompanying article, so we’ll take care of that today.

We think it depends on one thing: what people think the exclusivity is. It doesn’t really matter what the stock numbers are actually looking like (we’d guess they’d be in the same ballpark), what matters is what folks think the stock numbers look like. If the general sneakerhead populace thinks that the Royals are going to be an extremely limited release, there’s a greater chance that more people will pop out to the mall to raffle for them simply off the strength of the exclusivity. If that happens … then yes, the Royals will indeed generate more hype than the Breds did upon release. If not? Should be about the same.

We just want a pair to wear though. Give us our Bred, Shadow, and Royal trifecta, and we’ll be good forever.
