The Jordan I Flyknit: A No-Go In Our Book

We love Jordan I’s. They’re simple. They’re classic. They’re clean. They’ve been out for over 30 years, and are STILL one of the best shoes on the market. We’ll love them forever, and we usually love it when Nike puts a fresh spin on them … but the recently-unveiled Jordan Flyknit I doesn’t really float our boat. If you’re wondering where the above image is from, it was captured at a Spurs-Blazers playoff game in Portland recently.

We love Flyknit, and we love Jordan I’s but two great things don’t always come together to make an even better thing, and that’s unfortunately the case here. The classic look of the Jordan I and the futuristic look of the Flyknit just don’t come together right. read more

We’re hyped on the Pure Money IV’s. We think that they’re a great sneaker, and will be killer this summer. Even though the hype for Jordans isn’t what it once was, we still think that these will be a banger, and we were so gassed when we first heard the news that we even wrote an article about them. They drop next week, and we’re still hyped.

However, you might not want to wait for the drop. That’s understandable. When you’re looking for a fire pair, sometimes playing the waiting game isn’t something that you’re interested in doing. 1-2 Punch: LeBron James and Kyrie Irving Have The Best-Selling Shoes In The NBA

It’s a good time to be a Cavs fan. Your team’s doing well in the playoffs and look like they’re primed to repeat. You’ve got the best player in the game (yeah, we said it), an elite point guard, and a strong supporting cast. Your team’s on the up-and-up like usual … and their shoes are selling too.

Forbes.com recently reported that LeBron James and Kyrie Irving’s signature shoes are the #1 and #2-selling signature basketball shoes on the market, and even in a down market for signature sneakers, this is something to be proud of. LeBron’s recent price drop on his shoes (they’re no longer $200) appears to have worked in his favor, and Kyrie’s lightweight, affordable and well-designed shoes are clearly moving just as well as always. read more

Matt Powell’s Article On 2017’s Q1 In Sneakers: Fascinating.

Matt Powell’s been writing about sneakers for years.

He works for NPD Group, a company that analyzes trends in retail and sales (Powell handles athletic footwear), and breaks down why things happen the way they do. He just released his report on the first quarter of 2017 in footwear … and it’s interesting to say the least.

Nike had 4 of the 5 best-selling shoe models in the first quarter (the Jordan IV, the Jordan VI, the Jordan XII and the Huarache) but still saw a sales loss in the high single-digits, while adidas only had one model in the top 5 (the classic Superstar), but adidas’s sales grew close to an incredible 85%. You probably weren’t wondering about Under Armor, but in the event you were, their footwear sales declined in the double digits. read more

The All-Black Jordan I Is Going To Be Crazy

We’re geeking out over here at KicksOneTwo. Yes, it’s about Jordan I’s. Can you blame us? Just look at the beautiful shoes in the image above. The clean, smooth all-black colorway. The buttery looking leather. These are reminiscent of the 2001 Japan-exclusive Jordan I’s that have gained legendary status among sneaker collectors all over the globe, with the only real difference being the red “Nike Air” hit on the tongue.

We stated in yesterday’s article that I’s have either been blowing off the shelves or sitting around recently … and we’re of the opinion that these jawns will blow off the shelves before you can say “perfect fall and winter shoes”. read more

Will The Metallic Red Jordan I Fare Better Than Its Navy Counterpart?

Despite our love for the Jordan I, we won’t argue that there aren’t many shoes on the market more hot and cold than the classic high top. The shoe will either blow out the day of release (like the Royal I’s did recently) or reach super-duper-deep discount status at Nike outlets all over the country (like the yin-yang pack I’s did).

So with the release of the classic Metallic Red I’s on the horizon (May 6th to be specific), we can’t help but wonder: will they sell out, or will they sit on shelves and hit outlets like the Metallic Navy did? read more

Day After Release: Our Thoughts On The Triple White 350’s

Release day’s behind us. The madness has subsided (somewhat). The hypebeasts have left the mall, and returned to their rooms, where they’ll scheme their next few weeks of Instagram posts until the next hot release, when they’ll re-emerge.

So now that the initial hype has died down, we can look back on the shoe with a slightly more objective point of view (check the rhyme scheme). And what do we think? It’s clean. Very clean. Might just be the best V2 yet … but it’s not enough to swing us back on the Yeezy train. read more

We Told You That LaVarr Ball Needed To Chill

A few weeks back, we wrote about LaVar Ball. How he needed to chill. How his big mouth and outlandish statements were doing more harm than good. We were (and still are) of the opinion that he’s enjoying the limelight too much, and putting negative attention onto his sons with his behavior instead of letting their play speak for itself.

Well, according to reports it looks like we were completely correct. ESPN’s Darren Rovell (a typically reliable source of information) reported this week that Nike, adidas, and Under Armor aren’t interested in signing Lonzo Ball to a contract. Think this might have something to do with LaVarr? We do. Lonzo stayed quiet and let his excellent play speak for him … but LaVarr’s constant outlandish statements (especially the one he made regarding the package shoe deal for his sons that we touched on in the previous article) has made a kid who could be a solid pitch man for a brand into somewhat of a liability. read more
