Don’t Be A Keyboard Warrior!

Do you spend most of your free time flipping through Facebook sneaker groups and trying to think of smart-ass comments to leave on people’s posts even though you very rarely buy or sell anything? Do you frantically grab for your phone every time you see the notification light go off? Are you one of those guys who hasn’t met 75% of the people they consider “friends” face-to-face? If so, then you just might be a keyboard warrior, and I’m here to help.

Although it might be enjoyable being the funny guy online who’s always wisecracking about Niketalk denim, someone’s blurry struggle sneaker picture, or how someone got fleeced in a trade, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t do any good for the culture that we all love. This is not by any means to say that there’s no place for it, but it’s not a real contribution.

Stop by a local sneaker shop! Head to an event! Meet up with some of the people in one of the groups you’re in for some grub and a beer. Chances are, if you can think of a witty comment online and you know your kicks, you’re a pretty chill person who can be sociable.

I’m always astounded by how many people who live here and love sneakers have never stopped by Studiiyo23 to get their Jordan game right, or never stepped in Phenom to cop the newest Nike Sportswear release. Come out and meet some people! Chances are you’ll enjoy it a whole hell of a lot more than chilling in front of the computer.

If you’re ever out and about and run into me, or anyone else in the Twin Cities sneaker scene, take some time to stop and say hello to them! You’ll be very glad you did. We all love the same stuff, after all.

  1. The first paragraph sounds like you…I know you spend a lot of time flipping through online shoe talk…but I guess as a blogger you need to be on your keyboard all the time.
