Nike Is Pushing The AF1 To The Forefront Of Cool Again

The Air Force 1: one of the most iconic models in Nike’s history. From its inception in 1982 to today, it’s a shoe that’s been at the forefront of fashion and street culture. Much like any other shoe, it’s had its ups and downs in the popular eye, but it’s managed to remain remarkably consistent over its 30-year existence.

We’d mentioned ups and downs in the paragraph above … and it seems as if Nike is setting the AF1 “up” (no pun intended) for a very good year in 2017. In today’s world, there’s nothing better than a collab, and it appears as if we’ll be getting blessed with a few crazy ones.

Nike’s gone the high fashion/street fashion route and let big-name designers like Virgil Abloh of Off-White, A$AP Bari of VLONE and Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcons and Dover Street Market put their signature touches on the shoe … and it’s got the internet going nuts (word to Paul Wall).

Sneaker heads and hypebeasts alike are amped about the releases, and the AF1 is seemingly at the forefront of street culture and fashion once again. There’s no official word yet on when these shoes will be dropping next year, but the hype train doesn’t show any signs of slowing down soon, so the AF1 could very well run 2017.

Don’t be surprised about the sudden thirst for AF1’s. There’s always room for a classic, especially when it’s upgraded with a modern touch.
