1 Of 1: Customizing Your Gear Can Improve Your Fit

We’re talking about clothes today.

Yes, the name of the site is KicksOneTwo, and yes, it’s mainly a sneaker website. But we love style too. When you see us, you don’t see NT denim or ill-fitting shirts. We like pairing dope kicks with fresh outfits.

But enough bragging. We’re here today to talk about customizing your gear. We all know about custom sneakers, and how if you have an idea and a skilled enough sneaker customizer that you can make almost any idea come to life, but many sneakerheads are unaware that you can do the same thing with your clothes. There’s a few hacks, ranging from simple to complex that you can use to make your fit truly unique, and we’re more than happy to share them with you!

Pins/Buttons

We’ll start off with a simple one: Putting pins or buttons on your gear is an easy, foolproof way to add a small but unique touch to the outfit you’re rocking, and brands like Pintrill make every size, shape, and color you can imagine, so there’s always something for everybody. Slap a pin/button on your hat or shoelaces for a little extra steez.

Hand-Distressed Denim

Distressed denim seems to be enjoying a strong comeback at the present moment, and it seems that every brand has a pair of pants that you can buy pre-distressed. That’s great and all, but it’s way more dope to do it yourself…and all you really need is a marker, a pair of scissors, a razor blade, some tweezers, and a helpful YouTube tutorial like this one. Before you know it, you’ll be making your own distressed denim that’s a thousand times more unique than what you can get at the store.

Bleaching/Dip Dying

There’s a good chance that you have some plain white or black tees in your wardrobe, and some of them might not get a whole lot of wear. That’s great. Bleach or dip dye them! There’s endless ways to make them come out the way you want (here’s a video example if you’d like to see for yourself), and you can turn an old t-shirt that you don’t get a lot of wear out of into a piece that’s in constant rotation in your wardrobe.

Painted Jackets

Have a dope bomber or jean jacket? Have someone who’s artistically gifted paint it, or do it yourself if you’r lucky enough to be artistically gifted. Bombers and jean jackets are two pieces of outerwear that are truly timeless and will never go out of style, so having a unique design that’ll truly give you a 1 of 1 piece painted on is somewhat of a no-brainer.

There you have it. A few ways (from simple to complex) to step up your clothing game and make sure your fit is truly 1 of 1. Don’t say we never did anything for you when it comes to making sure you’re dressed to the nines.
