Always Advance

Always advance.

No matter what it is that you do in life, you need to keep moving forwards. Pushing your boundaries. Trying new things. Advancing, not retreating. And just like so many other things in life, this ties in with your style as well. Sneakers and clothing are ever-changing, and your personal style should too.

Sure, you can find your wardrobe staples, and they can be anything from a clean black bomber jacket to a Bape shark hoodie, to a fresh pair of Jordan IV’s. There’s nothing wrong with sticking with what you like and making those pieces you like an essential part of your wardrobe…but you’re selling yourself short if you’re not advancing your style as well.

Try new brands. Go outside of the box and grab yourself some Gosha Rubchinskiy. Hit the thrift store and try to find a flashy vintage piece you can work into your wardrobe. Set aside your runners and throw a pair of Jordans on. Put down the Timberlands and try a different boot, like a Yeezy 950. Experimentation always a good thing, and it’s the key (word to DJ Khaled) to advancing.

Sure, you might toss a brick every once in a while. That’s alright. It’s part of the process of advancing. And if you put enough time into it, your advancement will become such that you’ll forget what a brick is. It won’t even be in your vocabulary anymore.

Take risks. Try things. Experiment with your personal style. No matter what you may be doing, if you’re advancing in some way, shape, or form (and heading in a positive direction), then you’re doing something right. Clothes and kicks give you a way to express yourself. Do it to the very best of your ability.

What do you do to advance your personal style? If you look back, are there differences between how you dress now and how you dressed 2 years ago? 5 years ago?
