Jordan I “Top 3”: Our Thoughts

Here at KicksOneTwo, our love for the Jordan I is widely known. We’ve waxed poetic about it many a time over our 2+ years of existence. We wear them all the time. We stay up to date on new releases and colorways, and that’s what we’re discussing today.

Earlier this year, blogs were bubbling with the news that a “What The” Jordan I would be dropping on November 28th, one day after Black Friday. Photoshop experts across the Internet were coming up with mock colorways, of the shoe, and it was a classic sneaker situation: lots of questions, next to no answers.

Well we haven’t got all the answers, Sway, but we do have a few. Jordan Brand recently announced that the shoe will be called the “Top 3”, not the “What The”, and will draw inspiration from the 3 most famous Jordan I’s of all time: the Banned, the Chicago, and the Royal. It’s also a slight nod to Jordan being the #3 overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft.

Now that we’ve finally got some solid information on the shoe, we finally feel comfortable sharing our thoughts. To be honest with you, our dear readers, they’re somewhat mixed.

Of course we love Jordan I’s, but the concept of mashing together a few colorways on one shoe is completely washed in our opinion. It usually winds up looking like a garish mess, and we’re fairly worried that might happen here. Just because it’s made up of 3 beautiful shoes doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll come together to form one beautiful shoe.

However, on the flip, we’ve got to admit that we’re a little bit excited too. Maybe, just maybe, they can do it just right. Fuse three classics together to create a futuristic classic. It would be a daunting task to pull off, but it’s certainly not a task that’s out of reach.

So as of now, we’re cautiously optimistic. We’ll definitely be on the lookout for any images/news relating to the shoe … and we’ll be sure to keep our fingers crossed that they turn out just right.

What do you think the Jordan I “Top 3” will be like? Are you excited, or are you already sure it’s going to be a brick?
