Supreme x Louis Vuitton Shoes: No Thanks

You heard the news yesterday if you were anywhere near a computer or hypebeast. You heard fingers furiously typing at phones and keyboards. You saw a thin film of sweat cover the brow of your hypebeast homies. You saw widened eyes and shocked stares. You saw all of this because the Supreme and Louis Vuitton collaboration was officially announced, and the world went nuts.

The collection is expansive, to say the least. There’s everything from small accessories to giant bags to sunglasses to footwear. Some’s dope, some’s ok, and some … well some is just flat-out bad. What’s the worst, for our money? The footwear.

We’ve never been big into designer sneakers. Most of them are tacky and ugly as sin, draw too heavily from classic athletic shoes (while maintaining none of their charm) and are ridiculously expensive. Louis Vuitton has never really made great sneakers (apart from their collabs with Kanye), and these are another brick.

They’re wide, smooth, and oddly bulbous. They look like a sneaker from an early 00’s video game. They’re far too generic, and no matter how good the quality may be, they’re just flat-out trash.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter who’s making the shoes or who’s collabing on them. If they’re whack, they’re whack, and these certainly are. Here’s hoping the rest of the collection received just a touch more love and attention to detail.
