The Great Debate: Bape Vs. Supreme

20140826-Supreme-or-Bape-Title

The clash of the titans. The battle of legends. The fight of juggernauts.

Bape vs. Supreme. The two most popular brands in street culture, one a high-end brand from Tokyo, the other a scrappy skate brand from New York City. Both rose from humble beginnings to become powerhouses. Both command an unreal amount of hype that other brands couldn’t muster up if they tried. Both have rabid (and sometimes overlapping) fanbases. They’ve even collaborated.

But which one would win if they went head to head? Who would come out on top in the battle of street culture titans? There’s only one way to find out: a three-round, head to head battle for the crown. Let’s get ready to rumble. read more

“The Show” By Round 2 Is Incredibly Entertaining

about_us_store

Here at KicksOneTwo, YouTube is our Netflix. We love any quality original series about street culture you can find on their vast expanse of content, from Detroit Rubber to SVDDNXLY, and we always like to recommend our favorites to everyone we know.

Well, we’ve got a new favorite. “The Show” by Round 2 is all we’ve been watching these past few weeks, and we’re borderline-obsessed with it.

Here’s the quick backstory. Round 2 is a great vintage/consignment shop based in Richmond, VA. They’ve also got a location in LA, and they specialize in rare vintage gear from brands like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, while also offering practically every shoe you can think of, from Nike to Saucony. They buy and sell shoes and gear at a blistering pace, so there’s always something new and fresh to be found on their shelves. Even the internet gawd Ian Connor is a fan read more

Sneaker-Related Violence Is Absurd

air-jordan-12-valentines-day-white-pink-1

I’ve got a lot of different emotions flowing as I write this article. I’m frustrated. I’m pissed. I’m upset. I’m confused. There was a shooting at a Foot Locker in Brooklyn Center yesterday (over a pair of the pink/white Jordan XII’s pictured above), and I’m sitting here wondering why this kind of shit is still happening.

I spoke to a young woman who says her brother was targeted, shot @ for purchasing a pair of Jordan's. He shot back. pic.twitter.com/YRCvsOEBA8 read more

11373594_458711124311018_374576943_n

Let’s be 100% honest: most sneakerheads don’t like reading books a whole hell of a lot. They can’t remember the last time they sat down and cracked one open, and they’d much rather do their reading (if they choose to at all) online.

Thankfully we bring you high quality online content at 8 AM every single day…I’m sorry, I digress. This article isn’t a shameless KicksOneTwo plug.

Today we’re talking about books. 5 books to be specific. They’re all about sneakers or sneaker culture, and if you love shoes you’ve got to check them out, as they might just expand your horizons. Without further ado, here’s 5 must-read books for sneakerheads. read more

Always Advance

rick-owens-fw16-paris-street-style-01-00

Always advance.

No matter what it is that you do in life, you need to keep moving forwards. Pushing your boundaries. Trying new things. Advancing, not retreating. And just like so many other things in life, this ties in with your style as well. Sneakers and clothing are ever-changing, and your personal style should too.

Sure, you can find your wardrobe staples, and they can be anything from a clean black bomber jacket to a Bape shark hoodie, to a fresh pair of Jordan IV’s. There’s nothing wrong with sticking with what you like and making those pieces you like an essential part of your wardrobe…but you’re selling yourself short if you’re not advancing your style as well. read more

3 Shoes That Look Great Beat Up

footmaine

We all love a fresh, clean pair of kicks. There’s nothing quite like busting a brand new pair out of the box and feeling like a million bucks while you walk down the street. We’ll try our hardest to keep our kicks clean, and with perseverance and a little bit of good luck, we’re usually able to do just that.

However, it’s impossible to keep all your kicks clean all the time. Shit’s gonna happen, both literally and figuratively, and if you’re not careful you’ll probably step in it. No need to worry though. There are certain shoes that look great beat up. With wear, they gain more character and become more unique, and we’ve compiled some of those shoes into a handy list for you right here. Without further ado, here’s 3 shoes that look great beat up (by the way, we’re excluding Chuck Taylors because we figured you already knew). Let’s get it. read more

The Surprising Success Of The “Master” Jordan XII

air-jordan-12-the-master-20161

If you’re in any of the Minnesota sneaker pages on Facebook (chances are you’re a member of at least one as there’s a ton of them), you probably saw the chaos this weekend. Sneakerheads were camping outside stores. There were long lines for a non-Yeezy sneaker for the first time in what feels like forever. The thirst (and the salt) were both very real. What shoe caused this fracas?

The “Master” Jordan XII.

You’re probably surprised, and don’t worry…you’re certainly not the only one. Sure, it’s a clean shoe. Sure, a XII hasn’t released in a while. But all this, especially for a shoe that was incredibly widely available? You can’t say it’s what you expected to happen. read more

LA Boutiques: My Thoughts

36

West Coast chillin’.

As some of you may already know, the kid is in LA for a few days. I love Minnesota, but I had to take a few days away from the cold, rain, and snow and come out to the west side. A change of scenery is good every so often, and I’m also not one to pass up an opportunity to eat new foods and cop new jawnz.

And that’s what today’s piece is all about. I hit Fairfax, Melrose, and La Brea yesterday, and peeped a bunch of dope LA boutiques. You’ve probably heard of most of them, but there’s a possibility you haven’t been, so I’m going to give you my thoughts on each shop, and because I’m a nice guy I’ll even throw their adresses in so it’ll be easy for you to navigate if you come out here. Let’s get it. read more

The Case For Wearing Shoes On Release Day

air-jordan-12-the-master-february-27th-01

Remember the good old days?

The days when you used to walk into the store on release day, buy your Jordans, take them out of the box, lace them up, and walk out of the store with them on your feet? We do too. We actually enjoyed those days so much that we’re here today telling you that you should bring back the old habit, and start rocking your kicks right after you cop them.

Nowadays, there’s too much emphasis placed on sitting on your kicks after you cop them. No matter if they’re super-limited or a readily available GR, people don’t seem to like to break their new purchases out until much later down the road. While we understand that it’s nice to keep a banger on deck and bust it out months or years down the line, there’s no need to do that with the majority of the shoes in your collection. read more
