NIKEiD: Is It Worthwhile??

I’ve never grabbed a pair of sneakers off of NIKEiD.

Sure, I’ve messed around with wild color combinations, and tried my hand at making a dope monochromatic shoe just like most sneakerheads have at some point, but I’ve never actually copped anything off of the site.

I’ve seen both very clean designs, like Yoosh‘s Air Max 1’s (click here if you’d like to see them for yourself), and Moh‘s animal-print pattern Air Max 90’s, and I’ve also seen horrible, poorly color-blocked monstrosities (there were a few truly awful iD’s on a few basketball teams I played on back in the day), and boring and bland Roshe Runs. read more

How to Ensure a Smooth Meetup

If you’re buying or selling sneakers locally, you are probably going to meet up with somebody to take care of the transaction. There are numerous things that can go wrong with a face-to-face meetup, so in order to ensure your next meetup is a smooth one, take these steps:

Make sure the other person isn’t shady

– Do some research on the other person. Don’t go full stalker, but a quick look at his or her Facebook profile won’t hurt. If they have references, run a legit check. read more

Sunday Sneaker Ramblings Vol. IV

Round IV.

It’s that time again…that time for another edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings. I’m sitting here enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee (out of a Kith mug of course, as anything else would be uncivilized), and I feel like sharing my thoughts on what’s been going on in the sneaker world this week.

Let’s start off with the OVO VIII’s, of which a few images were leaked this week.

With the hype from the OVO X’s still lingering, and the buzz around Drake palpable as ever with the release of “What A Time To Be Alive”, the OVO VIII’s lit up the sneaker world when images leaked this past week. No word on any release date (or really any concrete info on the shoes themselves at all), but this clean black VIII with red and gold accents and what appears to be super-premium leather will whip the sneaker world into a frenzy. I’ll definitely be trying to cop. read more

The Thrill of the Hunt

As many of you know, it’s the year of the Voss Boy. We’ve been out here staying hydrated by sipping on ice-cold Voss for a while now, and everyday more people are catching on. (Shoutout to everyone who sends me pictures of them drinking Voss. Keep ’em coming!!).

One of the reasons why Voss is so good, besides the fact that it’s unbelievably clean and fresh, is due to it’s rarity. (Voss Boys are very, very rare). You can’t expect to walk in to any old store and find Voss fully stocked. When I first started drinking Voss, it took me a little while to find a store close to me that carried Voss. Cub Foods, Super America, Walmart, and other local stores all did not have any Voss in stock. I was pumped once I finally found a store that carried it. read more

Celebrity Sneaker Showdown: Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost vs Jordan OVO X

kanye-west-drake-album-640x426

It’s a battle for the ages. David and Goliath. Gatti and Ward. Hobbs and Whammer. The Yeezy 350 Boost and the OVO X.

This is like Celebrity Deathmatch, except we’re comparing sneakers instead of the celebrities themselves. In the red corner, we’ve got Kanye West‘s Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost. In the blue corner, we’ve got Drake‘s Jordan OVO X. They’ll go head to head for four rounds (four important categories: materials, comfort, wearability, and cultural significance), and only after that will a winner emerge. Alright, enough with the boxing analogies, let’s get to the first category in our sneaker showdown. read more

TCSAX 6: The Best One Yet?

It was a wonderful day, filled with sneakers, music, art, good food, good people, and excellent weather.

TCSAX 6 (the first ever outdoor TCSAX) went down behind Studiiyo23 yesterday, and it was one for the books. I’m proud to say that I’ve been to every single TCSAX (I’ve actually still got the shirt from the very first one), and this one just might have been the best one yet.

Why’s that, you might ask? It’s simple. The positive, upbeat, welcoming vibe that TCSAX has always been known for seemed to be even more prevalent than usual. Sure, packing the Cabooze is dope, and throwing an event in the Target Center is a big milestone for any business, but nothing beats shutting down a city street for the day to bring the community together. read more

Yeezy Season 2 – Minneapolis Showing

YEEZY SZN 2.

I spent the majority of Wednesday refreshing my email in hopes of receiving tickets to the Minneapolis Yeezy Season 2 showing. I finally got them later in the night (along with everyone else from Minnesota) and I was amped. Even though I had no clue what to expect, and had numerous questions since the whole event seemed rushed and very last minute, I was still excited to go.

We were granted a plus one, and my dad had expressed interested in going, so I decided to bring him along. He’s not the biggest Kanye fan, and he doesn’t like rap music at all, so I wasn’t sure what he would think, but I figured it would be interesting to get someone who wasn’t immersed in the culture’s thoughts on the show. read more

Style Do’s And Dont’s For Sneakerheads

We’re sneaker guys. It’s in our blood. It’s what we do. There’s no part of an outfit that we love more than a crispy pair of kicks. We dress from the feet up each and every day, and we’re damn proud of it.

The only issue with this is that sometimes we love our kicks a little bit too much, and the rest of our outfit gets neglected. There are far too many sneakerheads that rock fire pairs with terrible outfits on a daily basis, and I’d like to help change that, seeing as I haven’t had a shitty fit in years (yeah, that was cocky, but anyone who knows me will tell you it’s true). read more

The Top 5 “Sneaker Shopping” Episodes

sneaker shopping

Here at KicksOneTwo, we greatly enjoy any sneaker-related videos, and one of our favorite series is Complex‘s “Sneaker Shopping”. If you haven’t seen the show before, the concept is pretty straightforwards: Various celebrities go shopping for kicks with Complex’s own Joe La Puma, talk a little shop, and then grab a few pairs.

It’s a fun and easy way to see who knows what about shoes (some know a lot, some know nothing at all), and it also doubles as an enjoyable casual interview, as whoever is shopping for their kicks is usually relaxed and in a relatively benign mood. read more
