Back To The Future II

We’ve officially made it back to the future. The power-lacing Nike Mag is finally upon us.

That’s right, the shoe that originally captured hearts and minds in 1989 is back again (it released in 2011 as well) … but this time it even comes with the infamous power-lacing system that the film made so popular.

And we’ve got to say: this is a release that’s being done right.

When the Mags release, the proceeds are donated to the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research. The beloved actor (and Back To The Future star) suffers from the disease, and is at the forefront of fighting it with his foundation. Nike graciously gives the Mag money to the foundation to help. That’s awesome.

Last time, the shoes were auctioned off on eBay for astronomical prices. This time they’re being raffled off through Nike’s SNKRS app for $10 a ticket. There’s no limit to the amount of tickets you can buy, so if you want to try once you can, and if you want to try a hundred times you can do that too. You don’t have to feel guilty about spending money on shoes too, because all your raffle ticket proceeds will go right to the Michael J. Fox foundation. It really is a win-win. You get to feel good about yourself, and donate money to a good cause.

And the shoe is flawless. The power lacing system is simple and intuitive, and it’l be even harder to get this time, as only 89 pairs will be releasing.

So shouts to Nike for handling the release the right way, and giving us another chance at a shoe that we all love. Get your raffles in by October 11th .. and get ready to go back to the future.
