LaVarr Ball Is Back … And Now He Wants $3 Billion

Lavarr Ball and herpes have a lot in common. They’re both annoying. They both won’t ever go away (just disappear for a little while) … and they both have a bad habit of popping up when you really don’t want to see them.

We’re exaggerating a little bit. Lavarr isn’t quite as bad as herpes. Sure, we dragged him a few weeks back when it was announced that none of the major shoe companies wanted to sign Lonzo (guess they weren’t going for the $1 billion package deal with LiAngelo and LaMelo that LaVarr wanted), and then we shook our heads in disbelief when he released his own $495 shoe. That was some of the most ridiculous sports-related news of the whole year. But even so, we’ve got to give LaVarr his props. Sure, he’s annoying as all hell .. but he’s managed to keep his sons in or around the headlines for the better part of a year, and shows no signs of slowing down. That’s impressive, if nothing else. read more

The OFF-WHITE Jordan I’s Are Even Crazier Than We Thought

We promised we’d keep you up to date on the OFF-WHITE Air Jordan I’s, one of the craziest and most hyped-up shoes in recent memory … and we’re doing just that today. The most extensive selection of on-foot images hit the Internet earlier this week, courtesy of Hypebeast, and we’re even more gassed about the shoes now than we were when the release was originally announced.

We were somewhat tentative about how the extremely deconstructed look would work on foot (keep in mind that some shoes look better on display than they do when they’re actually being rocked), but these jawns look CRAZY on feet. They’re surprisingly clean, and even though they look like they just might fall apart at a moment’s notice, the clean and bold branding helps tie them back together. read more

Fear Not, The “Arctic Orange” Just Don II’s Will Be Available In Men’s Sizes Soon.

There was a good amount of disappointment in the sneaker world this weekend. Sure, that’s something that’s bound to happen whenever there’s a hyped release, but the disappointment was twofold these last couple days.

Many a sneakerhead took an L on the “Arctic Orange” Just Don II’s. That’s the common part. The uncommon part? Many a sneakerhead didn’t even get the chance to try and cop. The shoes were a infant, pre-school, and grade school exclusive, so anyone with a medium to large size foot was totally out of luck. With a shoe that’s as hyped as these bad boys, you already know there was some salt involved for a sneakerhead or two. read more

SNKRS Stash: The Pokemon Go Of Sneakers

Ever since the Nike SNKRS app was first made available as an exclusive, invite-only way to get kicks, the game changed. Sneakerheads all over the world thirsted for an invite, and Nike proved once again that they were ahead of the curve.

Then, the app opened up to all, and it became an easy way to purchase kicks on the go. Now, things are changing up again. Nike recently announced the newest updated to SNKRS, SNKRS Stash. Wondering what it is? It’s pretty much the Pokemon Go of sneakers. read more

The “OG” NMD Colorway Is Returning Again, This Time On The XR1

There’s no denying it, adidas LOVES what they call the “OG” colorway of their NMD’s. We’ve mentioned a few times before that we think it’s a bit rich to say that a shoe that’s only been around for few years has an “OG” colorway, but that’s neither here nor there.

It was recently announced that the “OG” colorway would be making yet another return, this time on the NMD XR1. The classic red, blue, black, and white colorway is back yet again … but at least this time, the shoe is blessed with a premium leather heel tab. We don’t really like the XR1 as much as the R1 (we think that the plastic cage around the midfoot is just a little too busy for such a sleek shoe), but these are one of the cleanest XR1’s we’ve seen yet, up there with the Masterminds … even though they probably won’t approach those in value. read more

The Jordan I “Wings”: Not Taking Flight

I believe I can fly … I believe I can touch the sky … I think about it every niiiight and daaaay…

We’re sorry. When writing about any Jordan “Wings” release, we find it challenging to not break into our finest R. Kelly impersonation. When the first Wings came out, the XII’s, we were singing loud.  They were fire. One of the best and most unique sneakers we’ve seen in a long time.

But now the Wings I’s are here, and we don’t love them nearly as much as the XII’s. This isn’t common for us. We love most Jordan I’s, but these? Can’t even do it. They look like a tarnished statue, and not in a cool old Roman or Greek sculpture way … like in a whack cheap statue you’d find in a thrift store kind of way. read more

Why Are Kids’ Shoes Getting So Expensive?

There’s a good chance that if you’re here reading a KicksOneTwo article, you don’t mind dropping a good chunk of change on a pair of shoes. As long as you like them enough, and you think you can flex in them (we know you can), then you’ll go ahead and pony up the dough. We get it. We’re the same way.

There’s also a chance that you may have kids. We’re not sure if you do or not (we’d assume that some of our readers do as we have a diverse audience), but we’re sure you buy them shoes too. The one question we’d have to ask: would you buy expensive kids shoes? read more

BrandBlack & Weartesters: An Extremely Interesting Collab

When you see a sneaker collab, especially a performance footwear collab, it’s usually a very high-profile thing. A brand links up with an A-list athlete for a heavily marketed, highly technical, “revolutionary” sneaker. It’s a song and dance that we’ve all see before, and as dope as it is, it’s great to see some new things every so often. Thankfully, BrandBlack is bringing us a new thing with their latest collaboration.

They’re not collaborating with a professional athlete (even though they’ve got names like Jamal Crawford on their roster). They’re collaborating with noted shoe review group WearTesters, headed up by Chris Chase … better known to most as Nightwing 2303. read more

Are Virgil Abloh’s Nike Collabs Getting Excessive?

Virgil Abloh. The man behind famous street fashion/high end brand OFF-WHITE (it’s kind of a hybrid, but the prices are definitely high-end) is a designer in the truest sense of the word, willing to lay his hands on anything and everything in the pursuit of making something unique and dope.

What’s he been designing recently? Nike sneakers, it seems.

Image after image of Virgil’s designs have hit the internet, from Jordan I’s to Jordan III’s to Air Force I’s and Air Max, there’s a sneaker for every type of sneakerhead. Virgil seems locked in, and it seems that Nike is willing to collaborate with him on an extremely major level. read more
