Revenge Of The Sneaker Store: How One Shop Owned Resellers

The OVO X’s dropped this weekend. If you were within 5 feet of a computer at any point this weekend, you most likely saw for yourself. The sneaker world went crazy, the few stores that did get the shoes had to raffle (of course) and NDC sold its stock in a mere matter of seconds (of course).

Seems like just another hyped-up release, right? Well that’s the case for the most part, but one shop that received the shoes made the release memorable for another reason.

“What shop, and what did they do?” you might be asking yourself. The shop is Sneaker Politics, a Louisiana  sneaker store with three different locations, and what they did was make anyone who wanted to purchase the shoe wear it out of the store. This is great for many different reasons. read more

The Definitive Ranking Of Kanye West’s Sneaker Collabs

kanye-west-yeezy-season-most-popular-fashion-week

Maybe you love him. Maybe you hate him. Maybe you think he’s a genius. Maybe you think he’s a blithering idiot.

Yes, we’re talking about Kanye West here, more specifically the shoes that he’s designed. His influence reaches far and wide over the sneaker landscape, and every single shoe that he’s put out has sold out almost instantly. There’s few others that have the level of sway (YOU AIN’T GOT THE ANSWERS!!!) Yeezy has in the sneaker game, and as so, it’s only right that we rank his sneaker collars, from worst to best. We’ll even provide a little background info on each shoe for those who might not know their stories. Keep in mind we’re ranking the individual models (both signature shoes and collars), not the specific color ways. It’s also our personal opinion, so feel free to agree or disagree as you see fit. Let’s get it! read more

ICYMI: Logic Announces His Sophomore Album

We’re hyped over here at KicksOneTwo.

This past Tuesday, Logic announced his sophomore album, The Incredible True Story, via a short YouTube video. The video shows Logic in a sci-fi rocket ship enviroment, clad in a NASA-approved bomber, going off on a soundboard to one of the dopest beats I’ve heard in a while. The phrase, “I am the greatest” is repeated multiple times in the sampling of what is sure to be a banger of a track on the new album.

We’ve been waiting for this album announcement for a while now, so we’re very exited to hear that it’s going to be coming out sometime this fall. read more

My Current Beef With Nike

I’m mad.

We’re all about peace, love, and positivity here at KicksOneTwo, (word to Logic), but we’re also not afraid to toss some shade when needed. Granted, if I wasn’t applying for Nike in a few weeks, this article’s word choice would be a little bit different, but that aside I have some beef with them.

First: the pair of Free Flyknit 4.0’s I sent to their claims department. On both of the shoes, the rubber on the toe was worn down pretty badly. I’ve never had this happen to me before so I decided to send them in to see if I could get a product voucher. What did I have to lose, right? read more

Nike’s New Raffle System

Bots. The scourge of the online sneaker game. They’ll steal your prized shoes from right under your nose, and it won’t matter how quick your fingers are because they’re faster. Joe Sneakerhead missed out on the last ten limited releases because he can’t beat bots, and you’ve likely ran into the same problem at least once or twice in your sneaker buying experience.

However, Nike is aiming to put an end to the pestilence that is the online sneaker bot with their new raffle system. Here’s a quick rundown on how it works: you enter an online drawing, and if you win, you can either pick up the shoes at a nearby Nike store location or have them shipped to your house. The speed of entry is no longer important, therefore negating one of the biggest advantages of having a bot. It’s the same system they’ve been using for in-store releases, rolled out to online purchasing. read more

Clear The Stage

I’ve loved hip-hop for as long as I can remember. My dad always played the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who when I was a young whippersnapper (always wanted to use that word on here), but the first time I heard 50 Cent and Eminem on the radio, I was hooked on hip-hop and I haven’t looked back since. Everything from legends like Biggie and Pac to today’s stars like Kendrick, Drake and Cole to colorful characters like Action Bronson and Tyler, The Creator to internet rappers with a growing buzz like Keith Ape or Playboi Carti….I’m with it. read more

Sunday Sneaker Ramblings Vol. III

Round III.

We’re back with the third edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings, and we’ve got a lot to talk about this week.

First things first: YEEZY. Kanye provided highlight after highlight at the VMA’s, from giving an epic speech, to announcing he was running for president, to debuting a crazy new tan color.way of the Yeezy Boost 350. No word on when they’ll drop yet, but apart from the grey pair, these are the best 350 Boosts yet.

Second: yesterday’s Jordan release, the Anthracite IX’s. You’d think sneakerheads would be going crazy over this release as it’s essentially the highly coveted Oregon XI without any Oregon branding. It’s a simple and clean shoe, and the nubuck on the upper is surprisingly nice for a Jordan release. However, there are full size runs sitting at most retailers (hit Finish Line or Eastbay to cop a pair if you’re so inclined). read more

It’s All About Options

The majority of us have that one shoe that we all love. The go-to. For Ross, it’s the Jordan 1. For the homie Titus, it’s the KD 4. For myself, it’s the Kobe 8. (Although, this statement may not be 100% correct. I’ll elaborate later). The fact of the matter is that once you find your go-to sneaker, you want to cop more colorways of that silhouette. Nothing wrong with having a pair for every fit. However, is there a point where it gets to be too much? Is rocking a different colorway of the same shoe everyday a good idea? read more

Be Yourself

This isn’t an article about sneakers.

It’s about individual style, more specifically how important it is to be unique in your personal style. I was kicking around the web searching for inspiration (like usual) when I came across this meme.

Pretty amusing, right? To be completely honest, when I first saw this meme, it gave me a good chuckle. I threw it up on Twitter, shot it over to a couple friends that I thought would find it amusing, and went on with my day.

However, later in the week when I was talking with a few knowledgable (and fresh) friends about clothing, a theme in our discussion seemed to be how one’s personal style gets better the more unique it is. read more

A KicksOneTwo Birthday Celebration

Yesterday was Bobby’s birthday. The big 18. He can now legally smoke (I’m guessing he’ll develop a fondness for grape Swishers or watermelon Phillies), buy lottery tickets (if someone hits the Powerball, grab me a pair of 750 Boosts and Royal I’s please) and go to the casino (remember the first time you walked into a casino? Was it not the dopest thing you’d ever seen at the time?)

I offered him the chance to write a self-serving birthday post, but as we’re both the type of people who don’t like amping our birthdays, he didn’t want to..so I’m doing it. read more
