The “Fight” At Sneakercon

It’s been a few days now, but chances are if you casually surf though the sneaker inter webs, you’re still greatly enjoying the footage of the fight (if you can even call it that) that occurred at SneakerCon NYC. In the event you haven’t seen it yet, it’s right here for your viewing pleasure.

Absolutely hilarious, right? Watching two scrawny kids halfheartedly grapple while the crowd oohs and ash like a MMA fight is going on is comedy gold. The little extra push at the end of the video is chuckle-worthy as well. read more

The Roshe Run: Alternative Options.

As a recent graduate from its hallowed halls, I can say that Anoka High School has always been behind on fashion trends. From camo shorts to joggers, it always takes Anokans a while to catch on. The biggest example comes from a couple years ago when the Roshe Run started getting big. I remember hearing all about how comfy the shoe was and how it was a “must cop” due to its versatility and dope yet simple design.

Being the hypebeast that I am, I gave in and copped my first pair. I was one of the very first, if not the first, to have a pair of Roshe’s at Anoka. Today if you were to walk through the halls during a school day, it would be hard to not see somebody wearing a pair. read more

An Ode To The Chuck Taylor, The Most Iconic Sneaker Of All Time

It’s the most iconic sneaker of all time. Loved by everyone from rappers, to rockers, to fashionistas, to people who don’t care about shoes at all. It’s the Converse Chuck Taylor

M7650_standard

Originally produced in 1917 as the “All-Star” before Chuck Taylor himself signed on to promote the shoe in the early 1920’s, the shoes were the go-to athletic shoe for everything from basketball to track for several decades.

As shoe technology evolved, the Chuck Taylor was pushed out of the forefront of performance sneakers….but that didn’t much matter, as by that time it was firmly ingrained as a casual staple. read more

Sunday Sneaker Ramblings Vol I.

Happy Sunday!

Hope everyone’s getting a chance to relax after a long workweek. The grind was real for myself and the rest of the KicksOneTwo staff, and I’m sure it was for you too.

Welcome to the first edition of a new thing I want to try out, Sunday Sneaker Ramblings! There’s a lot that goes on in the sneaker world week to week, and most of the news is small enough that it’s not worthwhile to write a full article on.

However, this news is still relevant to the culture and the game as a whole, and deserves to be touched on. I’m going to speak briefly about whatever caught my eye in the sneaker game this past week…and as always, discussion is encouraged! Feel free to drop your opinion in the comments, or hit us on Twitter! There’s nothing better than a good discussion. read more

Charging Over Box Price

One of the best things about the sneaker game is sneaker boutiques. Small, locally-owned shops full of employees who know and love their kicks. Boutiques provide a personal, authentic experience that you just can’t get at a larger chain store in the mall.

However, running a boutique is different than running a chain store. The clientele is different. The sales are different. The inventory is different, and sometimes small shops have to move differently.

Today, we’re talking about charging over box price for sneakers, a hot topic when it comes to shopping at smaller stores. Some understand it, and some are totally against it. read more

Facebook Profile Names

Along with Twitter and Instagram, Facebook is a great outlet for sneakerheads to buy, sell, and showcase their kicks. No matter if you prefer to stay local or go national, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of sneaker groups.

It goes without saying that there is a lot of buffoonery that goes on in these groups. From trolls to scammers these groups have it all. However, the main thing that has been irking me lately is people’s profile names. I know what you’re thinking: “Come on Bobby, profile names?” Let me explain. read more

Throw Back Thursday: OG KicksOneTwo Articles

It’s that time of the week again.

Yes, it’s Throw Back Thursday, and yes, we’re going to be re-visting some classic KicksOneTwo content. With all the great changes that have been going on around here, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the first few pieces we published, with links included if you want to look at some OG articles.

Wear What You Like: Elitism in the Sneaker Culture

The first “point of view” piece I ever wrote here, I still stand by what I said (even though I’d remove the “in the” from the title if I had a chance to do it again). If team Jordans make you feel good, go ahead and rock them. I’m not going to rain on your parade….although I might chuckle to myself just a little bit. read more

The Star Tribune Is Off Base With Their Recently Published Sneaker Article

I enjoy reading the Star Tribune.

People seem to be content to receive the news on their phone or just watch it on the TV more than ever nowadays, but for me there’s still something primally satisfying about actually opening up the paper and seeing what’s going on in the world today. The sports section, the local section, the world section…I read them all.

However, I don’t agree with articles that they publish every so often, and they recently released an article that was rather irksome to me. read more

All About Samples

#Samples, #PlayerExclusive, #BOMGang and my personal favorite, #SampleLife.

If you’ve followed any big sample collectors on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen a few of these hashtags used. I’m guilty of using them myself. (I still think claiming #SampleLife and #BOMGang is hilarious).

For those that don’t know much about me and my shoe collection, I can say that I dabble in the sample game. I’m not one of those guys that’s looking for and buying samples and samples only, but I’m not one to turn down a dope pair for a good price, even more so if they’re Kobes (some of my favorite shoes). read more

The Art of Complimenting Someone’s Shoes

So you’re walking through the mall, checking out all the stores have to offer with a dope fit on and a fresh pair of kicks on your feet. Aww yeah, it’s an un-deadstock kind of day. You stroll past the shops with a certain aura of confidence around you. You’re stunting on everyone and you know it. As you walk around, you smile at the fact that people’s eyes always seem to hit the ground when they pass you. You’re breaking everyone’s necks today. (If you haven’t realized yet, you’re having a pretty good day). read more
