On Minnesota And The Evolving Sneaker Scene Here.

Minnesota. Home of some of the best companies and thinkers in the world, and also home to our ever-evolving sneaker scene. We’re a pretty open-minded group of people who are usually down to try new things and accept change as it comes.

However, I saw something this last week that bothered me. As everyone knows, the 5th installment of Studiiyo23‘s great event TCSAX (Twin City Sneaker Art Xchange) is coming up, and it’s in one of Minnesota’s biggest and most well-known venues, the Target Center. read more

Wear Your Kicks!

It’s Friday. For you office warriors, that means you’re most likely sitting at your desk with one eye on the weekend. For those of you in the retail or service industry, it means you’re most likely gearing up for a crazy evening.

Whatever you may be doing this weekend, I’m here with a PSA for you for the weekend and beyond, and it’s easier than it sounds: WEAR YOUR KICKS!!

You might already be shaking your head. “What’s he talking about?” you’re thinking. “My (insert rare sneakers) are worth (insert large sum of money). Well that’s fine and dandy. But ask yourself a question. Did you buy your shoes to collect, rock or a bit of both? If it’s either the second or the third answer, read on. If it’s the first answer…..well go ahead and read on anyway. read more

The Strange (but not true) Story Of Riff Raff and Jordan Brand

If you’ve been on any sneaker sites or Instagram/Twitter at all within the last week, you saw the post. You might have seen it firsthand or you might have seen a post about it, but there’s no way around it. You saw the picture of RiFF RAFF holding up a picture of a Jordan V with his logo on the back and promising a retail release. In the event you were completely cut off from society this last week, here’s the picture for your viewing pleasure.

You would think with RiFF’s status as a known troll, and the outrageous claims posted in the photo ($750 retail price? Will be on shelves at Foot Locker, Footaction and Flight Club? Comes with a copy of the upcoming Peach Panther album?) that it was an obvious fake, and everyone would just laugh and keep moving. read more

Helping New Sneakerheads

When I was writing yesterday’s post about new year’s sneaker resolutions, one of the things that I’d resolved to do was help out “new sneakerheads”. Although most of the other resolutions on the list were somewhat simple and straightforwards, this one really wasn’t. What exactly is a “new sneakerhead?” How can you tell if someone is really interested for the right reasons or if they’re just trying to follow a new trend? All these questions spawned their own questions, and I decided it was only right to whip up a piece addressing the matter. So read on. I think it’s a very interesting topic and one that certainly needs to be discussed. read more

2015 Sneaker Resolutions

I’m normally not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. I feel that if something is truly important to you in life, you can resolved to do it at any time you choose, be it March 17th or November 3rd.

With that being said, I’m still going to be making resolutions of a certain kind this year. They’re not really life decisions, they’re sneaker decisions. With all the different ways the sneaker industry is branching out, you’ve gotta keep everything in perspective to make sure your sneaker game is tight, so here’s what I’m going to be aiming to do with my kicks in 2o15. read more

2014 Sneaker Industry Reviews

Today’s the last day of 2014. It seems crazy that the year is almost (literally less that 24 hours) already over, but all good things must come to an end. Lots of crazy kicks were released this year, and there were several good things and several not-so-good things in the sneaker game just like every other year. However, even though it’s important to look back on everything that happened this last year, it’s even more important to look forwards to what might happen in the sneaker industry this year. Without further ado, here’s my reviews of what the major players did in 2014, as well as a few predictions for next year. read more

Best Sneakers Of The Year #1: Air Yeezy 2 “Red October”

Here we are. The #1 shoe of 2014. In a year of crazy designs and innovation from what seemed like almost every brand, there was one shoe that stood above the rest. There really isn’t even any argument to be made. The #1 sneaker of 2014 is unquestionably the Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October”.

No other shoe had the all-encompassing effect that the Red Octobers had on the sneaker landscape this year. Nike made a big splash when they dropped them on that fateful  Sunday in February (the 9th at exactly 1:00 PM ET for the perfectionists out there) with no advance warning. With the sneaker game the way it is currently, it felt only right that the release of the most anticipated shoe of the year (and maybe even the last couple years) was on a totally random day with no advance notice. read more

23

It’s my birthday today.

This piece isn’t very sneaker related (except for 23 being Jordan’s number, but that’s a bit of a stretch of course), but as this is my site, I figured it would be alright to alot myself one birthday-related post.

It’s crazy to think that I graduated from high school about five years ago, and have been able to legally drink for the last two. It feels like just yesterday that my homies and I were slinking into the gas station at 18 to buy cigars and chew and thought it was so dope that we could legally do that. read more

Best Sneakers Of The Year #2: Jordan I SB “Lance Mountain” Black

We’re down to the top two.  Biggie or Pac? LeBron or KD? Who’s #2 and who’s #1?

After careful deliberation between all the dope kicks that released this year, I was finally able to get it down to 2, and this was the hardest decision on the whole list hands down, as the two top shoes of the year were neck and neck (you’ll find out which shoe took the number 1 spot later this week of course).

Without further ado, coming in at a very close second on the Best Sneakers Of The Year list is the Jordan I SB “Lance Mountain” in the “Black” colorway. read more

Best Sneakers Of The Year #3: Jordan x Fragment Design AJI

fragment 1

It hasn’t even released yet, but here it is, #3 on my Top 5 Kicks Of 2014 list. “Why?” you might be saying. “Why would you rank a shoe that hasn’t even dropped yet so highly?” Well there’s a few reasons for that, and if you read on, you’ll find out.

First and foremost, as you know if you’ve read almost any other article on the site, the Jordan I is my favorite Jordan model of all time. Nothing else even comes close. Crispy and brand new or beaten up and dirty, they look great either way, and the silhouette really works with anything. read more
