Does The Tubular Shadow Have A Place In The Sneaker Game?

Getting Yeezys can be hard.

If you don’t grab them on release day (which you probably won’t), you’ll have to pay resell, and even though prices aren’t as high as they used to be thanks to the recent cascade of Yeezy V2 releases, around $500 is still a lot of money for a pair of shoes, and is not a price that some people are willing to pay.

Enter the Tubular Shadow. One of the newest Adidas releases, the Tubular Shadow offers a Yeezy-inspired look for a fraction of the price (they’re only $100 and available at every mall chain retailer), and have been selling surprisingly well, leading us to wonder: is there a place for the Tubular Shadow in the sneaker game? read more

The Most Lit Sneaker Of 2017 Arrives This Weekend

We’re not even halfway through the first month of 2017, and the competition for the most lit sneaker of the year is already completely, totally, unequivocally over. You can’t fuck with a Monarch … and you absolutely, positively can’t fuck with a special edition Monarch.

Normcore gawd and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will take to the sideline for this weekend’s game against the Detroit Lions rocking the special-edition Monarchs pictured above … and the Lions might as well pack up and head back to the Motor City right now, because with heat this severe on the Seahawks sideline, they really don’t stand a chance. read more

This Fan-Made Adidas Commercial Is Great

Sneaker companies spend a ton of money on advertising and marketing. They hire agencies who profess themselves as the best and brightest marketers in the world to create content that appeals to their target audiences. It’s big business, and has spawned some memorable marketing, from Mars Blackmon telling Mike that it’s “gotta be the shoes” to And 1’s KG and Styles P commercial to Nike’s “Freestyle” dribbling commercial.

Well there’s a great new sneaker commercial … and the craziest thing about it is that it’s not even an official company-sponsored endeavor. Eugen Merher of Germany, a film student, created an unofficial Adidas ad for a school project called “Break Free”, in which an aging runner stuck in a dull retirement home begins running again after finding his old pair of Adidas running shoes. read more

Fragment I’s Spotted At Minnesota Marshalls

FRAGMENT I’S HAVE BEEN SPOTTED IN A MINNESOTA MARSHALLS.

Yes, you read the headline right. The Fragment Jordan I’s that have been popping up for a mind-bogglingly low price of $59.99 at Marshalls have came to the North, as a few pairs were spotted at the Mall Of America  yesterday.

The sneakerhead (who’s name will remain anonymous to protect his privacy) who found them walked into the store Thursday morning, and happened upon three pairs chilling on the shelves, for the low price of $59.99. Needless to say, he immediately purchased all three and had them flipped a few hours later, as they weren’t his size. read more

January: A Stale Month For Sneakers

January’s not the most fun month of the year.

Let’s be 100% honest here: unless your birthday is in January or someone you’re close with has a birthday in January, you probably wouldn’t mind bypassing it completely. The luster of the holidays has worn off. The grind has resumed. If you’re from Minnesota like we are, it’s cold and gross to boot, which doesn’t help matters any.

Unfortunately this extends to the sneaker game as well. Sure, there’s a new year’s worth of releases to look forwards to and obsess over … but there’s generally nothing of great note releasing, which can be tough to stomach especially after the holiday season, when most brands bring out their biggest and best releases of the year. read more

Jordan XV: The Worst Air Jordan Ever

Any signature sneaker line is bound to have its ups and downs, especially when they’ve been around as long as the Air Jordan. Over 31 signature models, the Air Jordan has experienced great highs and terrible lows … and the most terrible of those lows is definitely the Air Jordan XV.

Lots of Jordans have been inspired by flight, and like one of the best Jordans ever, the Jordan V, the XV was inspired by a plane (the X-15 jet), but that’s about the only similarity. These are horrible. Just look at them, for god’s sake. If they were a video game, they’d be Trash Bandicoot. If they were a breakfast food, they’d be trash browns. If they were a track and field event, they’d be the 100-yard trash. Yes, they’re that bad. read more

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Wow. We’re finally here. The end of 2016. A year with a lot of extreme highs and very low lows, both in the sneaker game, and the real world (yes, I do know there are other things going on besides sneakers).

It’s been a whirlwind year for myself personally, as well as KicksOneTwo. As some of you already know, midway through the year I accepted a paid writing gig (a goal I’d been striving for since the creation of this site) at PIFF, the best store in the Twin Cities (check my work for their blog right here). read more

Why Do People Wear Fake Yeezys?

Fake Yeezys. The scourge of the sneaker game. Some are made-up colorways, like the one above. Some have light-up midsoles. Some are so flimsy they look like water shoes. Some are actually pretty damn good and can only be spotted by a trained eye. No matter what they look like though, they all have one thing in common: they absolutely suck.

The Yeezy 350 Boost just might be the most-faked sneaker of all time. You can hardly go a day without seeing a fake pair of Yeezys on someone’s feet … and we can’t help but sit here and wonder why. What would compel you to buy/wear a fake pair? read more
