Ronnie Fieg Killed It Again On The Sakura Project

If you know me at all, you know that I’m a huge Ronnie Fieg fan. The man is constantly innovating. He’s always true to the look that he’s created while still managing to remain on trend, and with his latest collection, he’s outdone himself once again.

Followers of Kith know that Ronnie has been in Tokyo the past few weeks, operating a pop-up shop and working on collaborations with the likes of John Elliot and Puma. For those who may have not seen what he’s been up to, the lookbook is available here. There’s also a video recap of the Kith crew’s escapades in Tokyo. read more

Quality Over Quantity

I know the feeling. You watch a new episode of Sneak Peek, or walk inside your friend’s house and see his boxes of sneakers stacked to the ceiling, and think “Damn, I’ve gotta get some more kicks. Believe me, I’ve been there.

However, I’m here with an important message for you today, and that message is quality over quantity. Yeah, you heard me right, quality is way more important than quantity.

What am I trying to say, you might ask? Well it’s actually pretty simple. I’m saying that the quality of the kicks in your collection is way more important than how many pairs you have. Buying shoes takes no special talent. Anyone with some money in their pocket can run through the mall and drop a few hundred dollars for 4-5 pairs of shoes. Do that enough, and before you know it, you’ll have a wall full of kicks in your room. read more

Hard Work Pays Off

Yesterday was a big day.

I got my first article published on a site that’s known the world over. I’m now a contributor to the Karmaloop blog, KLX. I’ll be bringing fresh content to their blog 2-3 times a week. My first post was on one of my idols, none other than Skateboard P himself, Pharrell Williams. If you’re so inclined, you can read the piece here.

I’m still in a state of disbelief that this actually happened. When I started KicksOneTwo about a year ago, my goal was to reach as many people as I could. I’ve always said that if one person enjoyed one article that I wrote, it made the whole thing worthwhile. Now, with the help of a major site like Karmaloop, I have the chance to reach thousands of people all over the world. My main goal is to produce as much quality content as possible, both here, and for Karmaloop. read more

My Top 5 Jordan I’s Of All Time

If you know me, you know that I love Jordan I’s. The silhouette is perfect, not too chunky and not too slim. They look good fresh out of the box or trashed. They’re the rare shoe that works with pants and shorts.

Owing to the fact that I love the shoe so much, I thought it would be only right to list off my top 5 Jordan I’s of all time, in order from #5 to #1. This list has nothing to do with rarity or value, just my favorites. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

The Quality Of Sneaker Writing (And Pop Culture As A Whole)

Quality. It’s always important. When you buy a hamburger, you want a quality one. You don’t want one that tastes like it’s been under a heat lamp all day and is made up of odds and ends. When you buy a movie ticket, you (usually) want to see a quality movie. You’d rather not spend $10-$20 to see a washed up Adam Sandler try to squeeze every last dollar he can out of awful family films.

Where am I going with this tangent about quality products, be it a delicious beef patty or a feature film, you may ask? Worry not, it’s getting tied back to sneakers. I’m going to talk about the quality of sneaker writing as a whole. read more

Thirst And Sneaker Resellers

At some point in your sneaker career (if you want to call it that), there’s been a few releases that you wanted badly. I’m not talking about a sneaker that you though “yeah, those would be a dope addition to my collection”. I’m talking about the kind of sneaker that keeps you up at night because you’re lying in your bed thinking about how fly they are. You’re in math class trying to learn high-level algebra, and all you can think of is the kicks. You’re at work and your boss is going over some boring pie chart, and all you can think of is the kicks. read more

What Makes A Sneaker Influencer?

If you’ve been involved in the sneaker game these last few years, you’ve heard the term before. An “influencer”. Someone who influences a sneakerhead’s taste and buying preferences.

The sneaker “influencer” has been around in some way, shape, or form ever since Chuck Taylor was pushing Converse shoes back in 1917, but it seems to have gained even more steam recently. With people from all walks of life ranging from the gawd Kanye West all the way to YouTubers like Mr. Foamer Simpson being considered “influencers”, the word seems to have grown a new meaning over the last decade or so. read more

The Sneakerhead Walk

If you’re a die-hard sneakerhead, you’ve done it once. Maybe you’ve done it twice. Hell, maybe you do it every time you lace up a fresh pair of kicks. If you couldn’t figure out what I was talking about in the last sentence (or you just didn’t read the title for some reason), I’m talking about the sneakerhead walk.

For those that aren’t familiar, the sneakerhead walk is essentially walking around like you’ve hurt yourself and don’t want to bend your toes or lift your feet off the ground. It’s been compared to walking like a duck, and walking like someone who just suffered a severe leg injury. It’s embarrassing……and even though you might think otherwise, it’s very noticeable. When I was at TCSAX5 last weekend, I was talking to the squad at the Create Karma table, and my friend Joel mentioned how funny it was that there were large groups of people shuffling around the halls as if they were injured. read more

What Kicks Should You Rock In The Spring?

Winter is still upon us. With the snow earlier this week, and the single-digit temperatures, it’s not spring just yet. However, we’re closer with every passing day, and with the change of the seasons, a question arises: What kicks should you rock in the spring?

Spring can be a tough season for sneakers. You’re probably looking for a chance to put away some of the sneakers that are in your winter rotation, yet at the same time you don’t want to pull out all the lightweight summer kicks just yet. You also don’t want to break out the crazy heat too much, as the change between seasons can be rough on your best shoes. Never fear though, I’m here to help. I’ve got three solid suggestions for kicks that you can rock on a daily basis this spring. read more
