Step Your Style Game Up!

Sneakers and fashion go hand-in hand. You can’t have a dope outfit without a fresh pair of kicks on feet. Most of us sneakerheads dress from the toes up, and there’s nothing at all wrong with that.

However, some people in the sneaker game are guilty of not caring about fashion as much as they should. I’m not  here to say that if you’re into sneakers, you also have to be a fashionista who’s up to date on the latest Hood By Air collection, or know the difference between Naked and Famous and APC’s different cuts of denim. read more

Congats to Studiiyo23 On 4 Years In Business!

I usually wouldn’t write an article that sings the praises of anything this highly, but the topic of this specific article isn’t just anything.

Today marks a special day in Minneapolis sneaker culture. 4 years ago, the best sneaker boutique in the state, Studiiyo23 opened its doors. With 3  solid founding principals the business was based on (passion, creativity, and love for the game) “the Studiiyo” (as some loyal customers affectionately call it) quickly became more than a store: It became a place where people who love everything from sneakers to art to hip-hop could meet like-minded people in a welcoming enviroment. Nowadays it’s not just a store. It’s a cultural hub. read more

Thoughts On The Supreme Fall/Winter Drop

By now, you’ve probably heard about Supreme‘s Fall/Winter 2014 drop. You’ve maybe even seen the photo galleries of the apparel, accessories, and headwear over on Hypebeast.

In the fast-moving world of streetwear, it’s already somewhat old news even though the picture galleries just arrived a few days ago. So why did I wait to write my thoughts on it, you ask? It’s pretty simple: I needed a little time to fully digest how dope the collection is.

I feel like I find myself saying this ever time Supreme releases a lookbook for their upcoming collection, but they really killed it on this one. Most of the offerings are on point, and the select few that aren’t quite as dope are still pretty solid, just not very original. read more

All-Red Kicks: When Will It End?

Trends. Can’t live with em’, can’t live without em’. They affect what we rock on a daily basis far more than we’d like to admit, and Nike is usually at the forefront.

Much like any other industry, trends in the sneaker industry come and go. Remember the LeBron 9 Elite “South Beach”? I’m sure you do.

When that shoe popped off the way it did and created such a huge response, Nike wisely jumped all over it and started pumping out kicks with a similar color scheme left and right. The hype was very real for a while, but as hype does, it began to die down. When the “South Beach” Lebron 11 dropped this year, there was little to no reaction from the sneaker community, whom for the most part seemed to be tired of the color scheme. read more

The Saucony Grid 9000 “Snow Beach” And Sneaker Nostalgia

With the release and subsequent immediate sell-out of the Saucony x Packer Shoes x Just Blaze Grid 9000 “Snow Beach” sneaker yesterday, I got to thinking about something that I like to call “sneaker nostalgia” and how there’s a lot of false instances of it going around the game right now.

Don’t get it wrong, this is by no means an article dissing the shoe. I love the colorway and the Grid 9000 is my favorite Saucony model. I just thought this would be as good a time as any to bring up a subject that I’ve been mulling around in my head for a while now. read more

What’s Your Most Complimented Sneaker?

I had a funny thought a few days ago. I was chilling with my homie (and KicksOneTwo’s Creative Director) Jahmade, and the topic of discussion was the sneaker that we’d received the most compliments on in public (the compliments being from the general public, not other sneakerheads or those in the know).

As I mulled the question over, to my great surprise I realized that my most complimented shoe was my Volt Jordan Futures (yeah, that’s me wearing the volt futures in the picture. The purple, camo and easter futures belong to Moh, Jahmade, and Bill respectively). read more

Thoughts On The Nike Roshe Run Flyknit.

The sneaker gods have heard my prayers.

That was my first thought when I heard about the Flyknit Roshe Runs. I’ve been on a real tech running kick these last few months, and when one of my favorite silhouettes is paired up with my favorite Nike technology, it’s an instant win. There are so many cool things that could happen with this sneaker as they develop it more over the next several months. I mean really, who wouldn’t love a multicolor Flyknit upper on a Roshe sole? Sounds like an instant win to me. read more

The Ten Ronnie Fieg Commandments

Here at KicksOneTwo, we love us some Kith. From the sneakers to the Mercer pants, to the short sleeve hoodies, we’re with the Ronnie Fieg movement all the way.

So we got to thinking: Since Ronnie is a god in the sneaker/street style industry, what would his ten commandments be? We’ve got a pretty good idea. Read on to see for yourselves.

1. Thou Shalt Show Love To Retro Runners

Nobody does retro running models like Ronnie does. From Gel Lite III’s to New Balance 1600’s, it seems that Ronnie has made a crazy colorway for almost all the classic running models. read more

Community Opinion: KD7 “Global Game”

Welcome to a new segment the folks here at KicksOneTwo are glad to bring to you: the “Community Opinion”. It’s a pretty simple concept. Folks from the local sneaker community chip in with quick opinions on a sneaker, from good to bad. We figured it would be a fun way to bring the community together and let them share their opinions.

For the first segment, we asked for opinions on the KD7 “Global Game”. Releasing tomorrow, this red/silver KD model drew some mixed opinions from the community. Read on to see what your fellow Minneapolis sneakerheads were thinking, (and click the links to check out their Twitters and Instagrams. If they’re affiliated with any sneaker business, that will be included as well)! read more

Thoughts on the Supreme x Jordan x Nike SB Collaboration

Earlier this week, hypebeasts all over the world rapidly developed uncontrollable erections with the announcement of what could safely be called a holy trinity collaboration: Jordan, Nike SB, and Supreme were rumored to be working on a sneaker.

Rumors and speculation are now swirling around the sneaker world as to what might be going on. Will it be a Jordan 1 SB, similar to a Lance Mountain? Will it be something off the wall? All hypebeastry aside, will it even be cool?

As someone who’s been collecting Supreme for a few years now (I’d like to think I know a little bit about the other brands too…Jordan more so than Nike SB), I have a few guesses as to what may be going on. read more
