What DJ Khaled Brings To The Sneaker Game

dj-khaled-air-jordan

When it comes to sneakers and the sneaker game, there have always been big personalities involved. Some have an encyclopedic knowledge of sneakers and can give you the background on a random pair of New Balance from the mid 90’s. Some can flex tens of thousands of dollars worth of rare kicks in a single photo. Some are just flat-out hilarious.

DJ Khaled would fall into the “flat-out hilarious” category. The boisterous, bumbling, affable, talkative Miami-based DJ and producer considers himself a sneaker collector extraordinaire, and will take any opportunity to boast about his massive collection. read more

Three Brands That You Need To Be Up On

We’re switching it up a little bit today.

Most of the time we’re sharing our thoughts on news, events, or issues in the sneaker game (or bringing you dope pictures of what people in our community are rocking…check Dallas and Jordan‘s Starting Fives if you haven’t already), but today we’re going to be putting you on to a few dope clothing brands that you may have not heard of.

It’s important to make sure you do your kicks justice with a fire outfit, and if you cop a few pieces from these three brands, you’ll be well on your way to making sure you’re on ten from head to toe. Let’s get right to it. read more

Teaching New Sneakerheads

sneakerheads

We were all new to the sneaker game at one point in time. Even the most seasoned sneaker collector remembers when they first fell in love with kicks and sneaker culture. There’s a learning curve to this sneaker shit, and everyone was at the bottom of it when they started.

However, there’s a stigma against being “new” to the game. People are awfully quick to bash someone for not having an extensive knowledge of sneakers, and in turn this leads to new sneakerheads trying too hard to act like they know more than they do. Newsflash: this is how hypebeasts are created. No, they’re not born in a melting pot of hyped kicks, expensive streetwear, and their parents money…they’re created by the game. read more

What If? – No New Releases

By now, we’re all used to being bombarded with releases each and every week. All of the major sneaker manufacturers hit us with something new — in many cases, they hit us with multiple new sneakers — weekend after weekend. With this continutal release cycle, my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram feeds are always blown up with this “shoe of the day.” Release information, pictures, purchase links, post-release “This is BS!” tweets, and more all flood my timelines for the day. It’s getting to be too much to handle. read more

Can You Ever Really “Retire” From The Sneaker Game?

Jerermy-Guthrie-Retirement

There’s always those moments in the sneaker game where you think you’ve had enough. Maybe you’ve struck out on one too many releases. Maybe you’re sick of resellers. Maybe you’re just having one of those days where you can’t help but think “Damn, why do I have so many boxes stacked up in my house?”

Sometimes when unfortunate instances like the ones listed above come up, you think about hanging it up. About getting out of the game. About “retiring” from sneakers, a la Jeremy Guthrie. read more

Resale Prices: Would You Pay Them?

nike-air-yeezy-2-reseller

As much as we all hate it, reselling is part of the sneaker game. People who are out to make a quick buck will cop limited kicks and flip them for well over the box price. As long as there’s more demand than supply for sneakers, there will always be resellers and there’s really not a whole hell of a lot we can do about that.

As someone who doesn’t care for paying over box price for kicks (I’ve never spent more than $50 over retail), I often find myself wondering about a few things: Who actually pays resell prices? Do people who pay resell prices feel bad about it? Would there ever be a sneaker that I wanted badly enough to pay resell prices? read more
