Sometimes in life there comes a point when you need to trim your sneaker collection down. Maybe a whole side of your bedroom is covered in boxes. Maybe your 2-car garage has become a 1-car garage. Maybe the spare room in your house has become storage for your kicks. Maybe you simply have too many pairs that you don’t wear.

It’s not something that’s easy to do. When you have a lot of shoes, even something as simple as trying to figure out which pairs you want to sell and which pairs you want to keep can be a time-consuming and strenuous task. Fear not. Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to go check out a Timberwolves game with several other members of the Minneapolis/ St. Paul sneaker community. Even though the Wolves got demolished by the Heat, it was a great time. Laughs were shared, drinks and food were consumed, and lively discussion of sneakers (of course) were had by all.

A few days after this memorable experience, I got to thinking about our local sneaker community and how great it is. Although we may not be nearly as large as communities in other cities like Chicago and LA, we’re much more tight-knit due to our smaller size, and that’s a blessing. read more

When it comes to sneakers and the sneaker game, there have always been big personalities involved. Some have an encyclopedic knowledge of sneakers and can give you the background on a random pair of New Balance from the mid 90’s. Some can flex tens of thousands of dollars worth of rare kicks in a single photo. Some are just flat-out hilarious.

DJ Khaled would fall into the “flat-out hilarious” category. The boisterous, bumbling, affable, talkative Miami-based DJ and producer considers himself a sneaker collector extraordinaire, and will take any opportunity to boast about his massive collection. read more

We were all new to the sneaker game at one point in time. Even the most seasoned sneaker collector remembers when they first fell in love with kicks and sneaker culture. There’s a learning curve to this sneaker shit, and everyone was at the bottom of it when they started.

However, there’s a stigma against being “new” to the game. People are awfully quick to bash someone for not having an extensive knowledge of sneakers, and in turn this leads to new sneakerheads trying too hard to act like they know more than they do. Newsflash: this is how hypebeasts are created. No, they’re not born in a melting pot of hyped kicks, expensive streetwear, and their parents money…they’re created by the game. read more
